This week we filed a lawsuit on behalf of a former employee of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s controversial primate research labs, who has been prevented from posting truthful comments on the university’s otherwise public Instagram and Facebook posts because they are critical of the university’s long history of animal testing.

So sweet! These squirrels and crows are enjoying their custom made gingerbread house. All animals are living, feeling beings, who are entitled to protections under the law. But the law generally treats animals as if they are no different from a chair or a table. Animals deserve a legal status that reflects the kinds of beings they are: creatures with the capacity for pain and pleasure, joy and sorrow, fear and contentment. We're excited for National Justice for Animals Week this Feb. 21 - 27! NJFAW is a yearly event dedicated to raising awareness about criminal animal abuse and learning how to create tougher laws in your own community. Click below to see how you can participate!
We are proud to work with Howard University School of Law by offering a $25,000 scholarship to a second-year law student in addition to a paid clerkship! The clerkship will provide insight into animal law issues, a purview into the animal protection movement and will complement their resume if they choose to seek out additional animal law opportunities after they graduate in a growing field of interest. It’s critical that animal law practiced across the country be represented by more diverse voices starting in law school with partnerships such as these to ensure the well-being of animals and to build a more inclusive movement.
Breeding operation, Adorable Stars, sells parasite-ridden kittens suffering from severe and fatal ailments. This week we filed a lawsuit to shut down the breeding operation permanently, hold the business owner accountable for animal neglect and cruelty under Florida law, and secure financial relief for three kitten purchaser plaintiffs who have been left with thousands of dollars in damages, severe emotional stress, and physical injuries.
