Today we visited a shell mound in Emeryville Ca. Shell mounds are the Ohlone -indigenous people of the SF bay area’s ancestral burial sites. There are over 400 of them around the greater Bay Area, and unfortunately they are often built over by corporate or government establishments. This one has been preserved while a shopping complex has been built around it. Please research the true history of this country and what it was before the colonizers came to kill millions of peo...ple, and take over the area, and enslave millions more. Research what people who survived these genocides have to say about their own histories. Don’t just drink the cool aid of the white washed narratives that will have you celebrating a false idea of white supremacy, theft, murder, slavery, and systemic oppression and endless capital gain for a chosen few. Instead of just feeling guilty or powerless to do something find ways to give back to the living First Nations community members who are still fighting colonialism even today. Let’s rally around those who deserve to be honored, apologize, and make repairs rather than just talking about how free and democratic we are as a country. The awakening process is about learning who you are in truth. It requires a practice that helps us transcend the consistent challenges our minds/ego constantly drag us into to undermine self esteem self awareness self love and awakening.
