The recall was issued because of a quality-related defect that could impact ...the product’s performance upon removal. Injuries reported range from infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury and other symptoms" due to the "quality-related defect." Tampon remnants could be associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome which is a life-threatening injury.
