BILL OF RIGHTS DAY Bill of Rights Day (by Presidential Proclamation) Now, Therefore, I, Franklin D. MONKEY DAY Every year on December 14th National Monkey Day celebrates unique characteristics of simians. The day also focuses on other non-human primates such as apes, tarsiers, and lemurs. Monkeys, also known as simians, live all over the world. More than 260 species of monkeys populate Africa, Central America, South America and Asia. They range in size from mere ounces like the pygmy marmoset to the mandrill at a heavier 80 pounds and tend to walk on all four limbs. As a member of the primate family, they are considered a lesser ape. Most monkeys have a tail, though not all do. Monkeys are divided into two categories Old World monkeys and New World monkeys.

NATIONAL DING-A-LING DAY National Ding-a-Ling Day on December 12th encourages us to reconnect with people we once talked to often. Ding-a-Lings on this day call the people they haven’t heard from in a while. It may be an old classmate, co-worker, or neighbor from years ago. Or perhaps a call will go out to the child who used to mow the grass during the summer. How about that couple who carpooled for soccer? What was their name? Many people slip out of our lives who would love to hear the ding-a-ling of a call from you. Why don’t you join the Ding-a-ling club and call someone this year?

NATIONAL PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY Each year in the United States, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. More than 3,500 Americans lost their lives or were wounded on that solemn day.

NATIONAL INTERNAL MEDICINE DAY National Internal Medicine Day recognizes the contributions of more than 300,000 internal medicine physicians on October 28th annually. Internal medicine physicians (internists) are specialists. They apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, they provide compassionate care to adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. Some internists take additional training to subspecialize in a more focused area of internal medicine. Their subspecialties may include cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, or infectious disease.

NATIONAL PUMPKIN DAY National Pumpkin Day recognizes a favored autumn decoration and food on October 26th. Pumpkin is used in a variety of recipes, competitions, and festivals.

SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY First Saturday in December SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY SKYWARN Recognition Day acknowledges the contributions of public service volunteers who provide essential weather information as it’s happening. Each year on the first Saturday in December, the day honors those volunteers who pay attention when the wind picks up, or the sky turns dark. Their efforts keep their communities safer by communication warnings to the National Weather Service.

NATIONAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY National Make A Difference Day brings community service to a whole new level each year. Organizations join forces on the fourth Saturday in October to make a difference, big or small. Millions of people have united in the common mission to improve the lives of others.

NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY On December 2nd, National Special Education Day commemorates the anniversary of the nation’s first federal special education law. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was signed into law on December 2, 1972.

MEDICAL ASSISTANTS RECOGNITION DAY Medical Assistants Recognition Day is observed on Wednesday of the third business week in October. One of the fastest-growing careers in the nation, medical assistants make medical offices run more smoothly and are instrumental in overall quality patient care.

NATIONAL PERSONAL SPACE DAY National Personal Space Day on November 30th promotes kindness toward sensitivities and supports healing by recognizing everyone’s right to decide when and how to be touched, or not. Touch can hurt. Germs can harm.... The day provides an opportunity to be aware of a person’s unspoken need for space or a gentler touch. When you see someone wearing the peach symbol, forgo the handshake or hug and offer a genuine smile instead and offer another way to show you care.

NATIONAL MULLIGAN DAY National Mulligan Day is observed annually on October 17. In golf, a mulligan happens when a player gets a second chance to perform a specific move or action. The day offers an opportunity for giving yourself a second chance or, as some people call it, a do-over.

NATIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY Day After Thanksgiving National Native American Heritage Day on the day after Thanksgiving honors American Indians across the nation. The day celebrates the vibrant cultures, traditions, and heritages while recognizing the many contributions Native Americans have made. The day encourages listening to Native American voices and fostering pride in the vibrant and layered heritage that’s embedded deep within our society.... In the United States today, Native Americans contribute to society daily. Whether through art or government, their insight and perspective elevate an art form or a district. They serve in the military, the medical and legal fields. Their knowledge wins battles large and small.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY October is a prime time for National Sports Day. That’s why on October 16th, the fans, families, and athletes of all the sports converging on the month come together to celebrate their favorite athletic events. All disciplines of a sport take the field, from the youngest to the seasoned professional.

NAVY BIRTHDAY On October 13th, the United States Navy observes its birthday every year. The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. The U.S. Navy is currently the largest, most powerful navy in the world, with the highest combined battle fleet tonnage. The service has over 340,000 personnel on active duty and more than 71,000 in the Navy Reserve.

THANKSGIVING DAY Thanksgiving Day is observed each year in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, amid the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE RIDE DAY National Motorcycle Ride Day on the second Saturday in October encourages all motorcyclists in the USA and the world to get out and on their motorcycles for a united day of riding.

NATIONAL ESPRESSO DAY Get the pure coffee essence on National Espresso Day! Whether you sip one cup or keep buzzing all day long, November 23rd is the day. The word espresso (/sprso/; Italian pronunciation: [esprsso]) in Italian means ‘quick in time.’ Before the advent of the espresso machine, espresso was simply a coffee expressly made for the person ordering it. It was also made with recently roasted and freshly ground beans. The cup was brewed shortly before serving. In the late 1800s, this practice was commonplace in cafés and restaurants.

MICKEY MOUSE BIRTHDAY On November 18th, Mickey Mouse Birthday commemorates the debut of a lovable mouse that was once a rabbit called Oswald. His character got his start on film on November 18, 1928, but before that, the story begins in 1927, when Walt Disney first sketched a floppy-eared bunny while under contract to Universal Studios. NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A COP DAY On the first Wednesday in October, National Coffee with a Cop Day brings men and women in uniform together with their communities to connect over a cup of joe. Inspired by the cliche about officers and their coffee shop donuts, the national observance encourages communities to sponsor an event that will bring citizens and those on patrol together. The events provide an opportunity for open dialogue and improve communication. They also break down barriers and create a valuable bridge to relationships in our communities.

As of today on November 17th Anderson's Tow has been in at this location for 15 years. What a change from our old location to the current location we are at.

NATIONAL SEAT BELT DAY As the holidays approach, National Seat Belt Day on November 14th encourages everyone to buckle up to save lives. No matter where you sit in a vehicle, wearing a seat belt is proven to save lives. Just over 90 percent of Americans buckle up, saving an estimated 15,000 lives each year. However, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 47 percent of passenger fatalities in 2017 were not restrained. Seat belts are proven to reduce the risk of serious injury and save lives.

WORLD SMILE DAY Each year on the first Friday in October, World Smile Day devotes a day to smiles and spreading random acts of kindness. If someone smiles at you, you’re bound to smile back. A smile can be used to express a feeling, encourage someone or be used as a greeting. If you don’t smile enough, #WorldSmileDay is the perfect day to start.

NATIONAL FIRE PUP DAY National Fire Pup Day on October 1st recognizes the canine firefighters that have long been members of fire departments across the country. While the Dalmation’s origin is unknown, their use in firehouses began during the 1700s. Trained as a carriage dog, the Dalmatian’s agility transferred quickly to horse-drawn fire engines. Even though Dalmations weren’t the only dogs fit for carriage work, they were the ones who mostly filled the role of fire dogs. They were also easily identified by their spotted and speckled coats.

WORLD KINDNESS DAY On November 13 as part of World Kindness Day, we are encouraged to spread kindness like an infectious cold. We want to share it more than usual because studies show when others observe kindness in action they are more likely to carry out an act of kindness, too.
