Today marks a special day onboard the Anchorage! Our very own 3MC is the newest appointed Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy! Please help us congratulate him on this momentous occasion! A BIG HOOYAH to Senior Chief Travis Bailey on his frocking. As he said it best, "If I can do it any of you can make it. Just continue to keep your foot on the gas, and never give up 'til you reach that goal!" #AnchorageNation #3MC #HooyahNavy #GoNavy #MMCS

Recent statement from the CNO and MCPON.

USS Anchorage (LPD 23) 16.08.2020

Update: 20 March, 2020 The updated work schedule has been provided to your chain of command. Ask your Chief for details. As we flex based on current events, the CO’s intent is clear and unchanged: ANCHORAGE remains committed to successfully completing the SRA and returning to the fleet.

USS Anchorage (LPD 23) 10.08.2020

From the Commanding Officer: Anchorage Nation, Despite my best efforts to ease concerns and clarify intentions with todays CO’s calls, new guidance in this fast developing situation has come out this evening. ... Navy Region South West has set Health Protection Condition Charlie, HPCON-C, and our operational chain of command, namely Third Fleet and Expeditionary Strike Group Three, will soon follow with new guidance for us. To allow time for this new guidance to come out, ANCHORAGE will reduce the personnel footprint onboard to Duty Section Plus for tomorrow only. As I explained earlier today at the CO’s calls, we have a mission to accomplish and that has not changed. We will execute the planned small arms shoot, the NSST simulator training and critical restoration work aboard our ship. I want to reiterate that Duty Section Plus manning is for tomorrow, 20 March only. Any extended Duty Section Plus manning construct for an extended period of time will be forth-coming pending guidance from Third Fleet and ESG3. All personnel not in the 20 March Duty Section, not involved in the small arms shoot, not involved in the NSST trainer, and not required by their Chain of Command are directed to remain at home tomorrow (20 March, 2020) and to monitor the command Facebook page and your other communications avenues. What is Duty Section Plus? -Normal # of 6 Duty Section -All E-7 and above -Gun Shoot participants -NSST/Simulator participants -Additional personnel as directed by chain of command *This order is for tomorrow only and until clear guidance is disseminated from higher headquarters. Unless told otherwise, all hands are expected to report normally on Monday (23 March, 2020).

As businesses and services in the community close, many of you may be asking if we will do something similar. We are aware and very conscious of the anxiety of our sailors and their family members. That said, we will not take any actions that jeopardize the on-time completion of the current maintenance period. The combat readiness of our force has primacy. We are however taking all possible and reasonable actions to minimize exposure to the Coronavirus. This includes canceling large group meetings, sanitizing spaces daily or more frequently as needed, and screening all personnel (both civilian and military) prior to coming aboard the barge or the ship. We encourage you to speak with your sailor and, as always, communicate any issues you may be having with the chain of command.
