Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) is pigmentation that follows an injury or inflammation. Some causes might be acne, chemical peels, or even trauma like what happened to this poor patient. These abrasions were unfortunately caused by carpet burns that happened due to an epileptic event. Back story: I do not think I have ever had a patient so on top of his skin. Prior to this event, his skincare game was on point! His skin was just beautiful, velvety perfection ...(minus a pea size PIH from acne scarring). And then this unfortunate event happened. And he became depressed. His confidence and self esteem plummeted as a result. Fortunately, he reached out and we started #escargloneeding treatments.
