Chökhor Duchen Puja! Friday July 24 (Resident monks only please, no students in person due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions). Chökhor Duchen commemorates the First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma by Shakyamuni Buddha, in which he taught for the first time in Sarnath on the Four Noble Truths. On this Merit Multiplying Day, the karmic results of actions are multiplied one hundred million times. Please take advantage of this precious opportunity to earn merit by engaging in ac...ts of generosity, reading Dharma texts, saying prayers and doing practices. ALTHOUGH WE WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE NO SOCIAL GATHERING DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, the monks at ADC will perform prayers on this auspicious day. The ceremony will take place on Friday, July 24, from 10am to 11:00am. We will dedicate the merit from our prayers to those sick and whose lives have been lost from the COVID-19 pandemic. HAPPY VESAK DAY! Celebrate the holy month of Sakadawa by participating in these teachings by His Holiness the Dali Lama. At the request of individuals and groups from around the world, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has graciously consented to give a two-day teaching on Chapters 1 and 4 of Master Nagarjuna's "Precious Garland (Rinchen Trengwa)" from 7:30 PM to 9:PM (California Time) on May 15 (Friday) & May 16 (Saturday), 2020. His Holiness has also been requested to provide general advice appropriate to these challenging times.
