Celebrated to honor the golden harvest of a bountiful winter crop, the occasion of LOHRI is more than a festival for the Punjabi community the world over. It’s a way of life highlighted with a mindset of eternal optimism, even during times of adversity. Loved ones gather together for a special celebration to commemorate the birth of a newborn child, welcome a newlywed into the family, and assemble together in gratitude. Bonfires are lit, stories are shared, food prepared fr...om the newly harvested sugarcane crop like , , and is shared and enjoyed by everyone. Last year, we celebrated the birth of a lovely young lady whose parents hosted a feast followed by traditional dancing and singing in her honor (breaking away from the popular practice of only celebrating the birth of a baby boy). This year, we honor the fearless Punjabi farmers camping out near the Indian capital of Delhi amid heavy winter rains and bitter cold to repeal three hastily issued farm laws that hurt their very livelihood. These brave & hardworking men and women, esteemed elders and awe-inspiring seniors have all shown staggering levels of cohesion and mobilization in their 45 days (and counting) perseverance of staging the world’s largest and most PEACEFUL protest A very HAPPY LOHRI! It should come as no surprise but warrants being said. California has no reopen plans for large gatherings at private events at the moment. If we are very lucky, we may see 30-50 capacity max allowance for lawful outdoor gatherings in early Summer. We may not. That crystal ball remains elusive. For the South Asian Community, this means it’s time to MOVE ON to a new mindset. Wipe the slate clean and write your own rules for a more meaningful and socially responsible wedding that still meets religious norms and family needs. Let’s redefine our version of ‘Perfection’ when it starts to compete for priority with Common Sense and Happiness. #anaisevents

While reopening must certainly be based on whether or not it's safe to do so, the issue of keeping a multi-billion dollar industry closed with minimal support is DIRE. The Government needs to take action to provide direction and aid to live event professionals and it needs to do it FAST. OUR INDUSTRY IS DYING. A recent poll by @liveeventsco shows 70% of live events businesses will close by January 2021 without aid. ... If you enjoy movies, live theater, concerts, live art & entertainment, conventions, weddings, and other events - it is because of the hardworking, talented workforce that gives their blood, sweat, heart, and tears to provide you entertainment (and an escape) for a few hours. They help make memories for you and your loved ones - and these talented folks won’t be around much longer without widespread recognition and support. @californiaeventscoalition

Can’t even begin to describe the heartache for so many of our friends, clients, venues who are once again in fight & flight mode in Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Napa, and surrounding areas. Despite all the resources, we can only standby in terror as everything burns down to ashes.
