Don’t miss this great interview with Maestro Gabriel Zavala ! ( in Spanish) Who is Gabriel Zavala ? Gabriel B. Zavala, is the fourth son of a large music lovi...ng family of 7 brothers and 4 sisters. He was born on April 1, 1944 in Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico. In 1955 the family moved to Tijuana Mexico where his older brother Rafael joined a Mariachi Band playing the trumpet and started teaching this trade to his younger brothers. In 1965 the Zavala brothers relocated to the city of Anaheim California where under the leadership of Gabriel they formed Mariachi Los Hermanos Zavala. For 15 years they toured the southwest extensively sharing the stage with many ranchera singing legends such as Amalia Mendoza, Gerardo Reyes, Lalo Gonzales "El Piporro" and many others. Maestro Zavala is the Founder of Rhythmo, Inc. a Mariachi Music Program for boys and girls based in the City of Anaheim. He has been playing mariachi music for more than 50 years now. His life as a musician and music teacher has been very rewarding. He keeps working tirelessly to leave his legaciy among the new mariachi generations. See more
