I have been a Mobile Notary since 1997. Serving Solano and Napa Counties in Northern California. I am a Certified Signing Agent with a current background check. I have successfully completed over 20,000 Loan Document packages. I am a stickler for details and triple check my work to confirm that my work is flawless. Since 1997 I've notarized of all types of documents, from simple situations to difficult ones. I am patient and calm and I make sure that notary law is followed,... not bent or broken. California Notaries will be getting their first raise in more than two decades. Governor Jerry Brown authorized a $15 fee cap for notarizations a 50% increase over the current $10 cap effective January 1, 2017.

Did you know that the signer and the notary must speak a common language? Interpreters are not allowed for notarization. If the person needing notarization doesn't speak English, you will need to find a notary that speaks the signer's language.

Did you know that if your minor child is traveling out of the country without you or the other parent, the authorization must be notarized? This is also the case when visiting jails, prisons as well as other US traveling. Check before your child leaves to make sure that everything is in order.

You need to create a Power of Attorney. Do you have your document? A notary is not allowed to carry power of attorney forms. By doing so, it is considered giving legal advice. Unless your notary is also a paralegal or a lawyer, you will need to find the power of attorney form that works for your situation. You can find them on line or in office supply stores. Not sure what ID is needed for your signature to be notarized? The following is acceptable ID for notarization in California: A California Notary may identify a document signer through a California driver’s license or identification card, or U.S. passport that is current, or, if expired, issued within the past five years. In addition, any one of the identification documents listed below may be used if the ID 1) is current, or, if expired, issued within the past five years, ...2) contains the document signer’s photograph, physical description and signature, and 3) contains a serial or identifying number. State-issued driver’s license or nondriver’s ID U.S. Military ID Foreign passport stamped by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Driver’s license officially issued from Mexico or Canada Inmate identification card for an inmate in custody issued prior to or on or after January 1, 1988 by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Employee identification card issued by an agency or office of the State of California, a city, a county, or city or county in California.

You've got your will done. Now what? No need to call a notary, California wills are witnessed not notarized. You will need 2 adults who are not in the will and who are not related to you to act as your witnesses.

Prepare yourself for your notarization. You must be able to prove your identity by one of the following approved IDs: State issued driver license, ID card, or Senior citizen card. Canadian or Mexican Driver License, passport, government employee photo ID card, and some military ID cards. A Birth certificate or marriage license is not approved for notarization. Neither of these documents is a photo ID.
