News Break! We REMAIN OPEN: We are happy to announce that we are not on the list of businesses the governor is asking to close. Specifically, KERN CO is not... on the list and additionally, we are NOT a fitness center. We are OPEN and OPERATING. Here's an email from Michelle sent earlier Happy Monday! I hope this post 7-13-2020 finds you well and ready for a new week! We are excited about all the things happening at American Kids and wanted to give you an update on some of the fun activities we have going on. Today our governor announced the closing of businesses. We are happy to announce that we are not on that list and are OPEN and OPERATING. We are continuing to require masks, temperature checks, and social distancing when possible. I think we can all agree that summer 2020 has been everything, but normal. However, together, we truly believe we have helped the children in our community by giving them an escape from the monotony of what life can be like today. Your enrollment at AKSC is more than just a Gymnastics class (or swimming, dance, ninja zone, etc), it’s a way to build healthy bodies and minds, which has been our number one goal since opening our doors in 1984. So, what is going on at AKSC besides your normal class? Great question! We currently have our EPIC! Summer camps taking place, which are a great option for your children during these long hot summer days! Summer camps run Monday-Friday from as early as 7:30am to as late as 5:30pm. Give the hospitality desk a call today and they can give you more information. We also understand that Fall school schedules are still uncertain at this time so with that being said, we are playing with an idea of continuing our EPIC camps into the Fall. If this is something you may be interested in, please sign up for our interest list on the parent portal. Lastly, with this 100+ degree weather, now more than ever is the time to remember water safety and the importance of swim lessons. We have swim lessons 7 days a week and start as young as 6 weeks old. Drowning is the #1 cause of death for children 1-4 years old and we want to help make Bakersfield a No Drown Town! We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health during these unprecedented times. Things change everyday! Status Update: As you can all imagine, the last 12 days have been surreal around AKSC. The silence is deafening and separation from our co-workers is unsettling. Like the many family owned small businesses, we need and depend upon your support. American Kids is encouraging all of our friends and customers to support locally owned small businesses during and after this crisis. Restaurants, stores, boutiques, and more all need our patronage. Together we can restart our community’s economic engine and put our neighbors back to work. Please see the message below on how we can all support what we’re calling Local First. Session 3, the one we didn’t finish: When the Stay-at-Home order was announced, we still had 2 weeks of the session left. This is how are we are going to handle that. When we are able to reopen, we will either finish the two weeks of that session, or we will credit your account with the unused balance and start a new session. This will all depend on what is best to get back in sync with the AKSC calendar. One way or another, you will get your full value & more! For anyone choosing to still stay at home, you can makeup your classes anytime in the next 3 months more if needed. Tuition & Auto-pay: As you know, last week we rescheduled running auto-pay from the 23rd to the 30th. Tomorrow is the 30th, but we will NOT be running payments on that date. For now we will suspend auto-pay until we have a firm reopen date. In the meantime, we have arranged some options for you to consider: OPTION #1: REMAIN ENROLLED, keep your spot for when we open - this Option is the default you don’t need to do anything. You will NOT be charged for session 4 until we open back up. This helps us know how to staff when we reopen. At that point, like always, you can then choose to drop, change classes, add classes, or just do nothing and stay in the wonderful class(es) your child(ren) are in. OPTION #2: REMAIN ENROLLED, keep your spot for when we open & allow us to charge your card on file now for session 4. P.S you also get Option 3 FREE! We have had many people offer to continue paying their tuition even though we are closed. We appreciate their generosity. Allowing us to do this will help us immensely with our cashflow for ongoing expenses not covered by the loans the government is promising (fingers crossed) and which we are pursuing. For example, we have some major repairs going on to our pool right now that could not wait, we have invoices for projects & new equipment previously committed to, and more. We promise that your payment will be used judicially, so we are at our best when session 4 arrives! To choose this option please email [email protected] and let her know you choose Option 2. If you select this option, you will receive Option 3 for FREE! OPTION #3 VIRTUAL CLASSES W/ AKSC STAFF! As many of you have seen, our staff has started posting virtual classes on our various FaceBook pages and YouTube. Many of you have expressed how much you enjoy them but we want to offer something even BETTER! Behind the scene, we have been working on launching Virtual AKSC where we will be conducting classes online for use by you at home! Or anywhere! We are hoping to launch April 1st but will charge only when we launch. The cost will be $20 to cover our basic expenses remember it’s free if you choose Option 2. PLEASE NOTE: If you want Option 1, there is NO NEED to reply as it is the default. A Few More Side Notes: CAMPS!!! YES, we are planning LOTS of day camps for when the Stay-in-Place order is over and Schools are still closed. Be watching for updates! Dance recital YES at this time we fully intend to have our recital as planned. It will be extra special for the dancers and all of us, given what we’ve all done through.
