Heroin overdose...

A mom used the poppy seed bagel defense to the tune of a $143,500 verdict from Jameson Hospital. As the NYT said, they raised the threshold in 2005 to 2000 ng/mL (you'd need to eat more than 3 poppy seed bagels that morning) and included confirmation screening for 6-acetylmorphine (found in heroine but not poppy seeds). SAFETY ALERT Did you know you hard hat has an expiry date? Each helmet, when manufactured, has a year and a month of manufacture stamped onto the inside of the ...shell near the peak for easy reading. The arrow in the stamp points to the month and the year overlays the arrow. If the helmet has been used regularly it should be replaced after 3 years from the date of issue. The date of issue should be marked on an additional sticker on the inside of the helmet at the back of the shell. The date of issue is not necessarily the same as the date of manufacture. Does your hard hat need replacing?

Investigators say a heavy equipment operator with a lengthy rap sheet was high on marijuana when the building collapsed. The operator, Sean Benschop, faces six counts of involuntary manslaughter, 13 counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of risking a catastrophe. His attorney has said he was being made a scapegoat.
