Think it’s important to point out that the injured man was able to craft what would be considered a proper improvised TQ - wide band of cloth with a windlass ...and it was NOT effective in stopping bleeding! Still want to depend on one to save some $ instead of being prepared and purchasing a proven commercially available TQ? Repost from @thedutchpoliceman 10 june 2020, my colleagues from the police station @politievijfheerenlanden were sent to a house in #Leerdam. Here the resident was bitten by his own dog. As a result, he had a serious wound to his leg. The were able to stop the bleeding whit a CAT tourniquet @northamericanrescue, after which the man was further cared for by the ambulance staff. The man is doing well. A the photo you also see an improvised tourniquet. applied before the colleagues arrived on the scene. It’s made from some cloth and screwdriver. #levensverlengendhandelenpolitie #lhp #tourniquet #northamericanrescue #ehbo #firstaid #instpolice #instpolitie #dog #trauma #hondenbeet #medic #medical #ambulance #firstresponders

2020 Mission Lifeline EMS Gold Plus Award For the fifth year in a row, the American Heart Association (AHA) recognized the Los Angeles County Fire Departmen...t (LACoFD) with its 2020 Mission: Lifeline Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Gold Plus Award. Prehospital personnel are the first providers of care to patients suffering from cardiac emergencies. The role of EMS in the system of care for these patients is crucial and often sets the course for the patient's outcome. The LACoFD earned this distinguished award for continually providing quality care to patients suffering from ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) heart attacks. Ultimately, the level of pre-hospital care patients receive plays a major role in their outcome and recovery. With emergency medical services (EMS) accounting for 85% of the Department's call volume, we are thankful to our first responders and Los Angeles County Fire Department Emergency Medical Services Bureau for always providing service with care and serving as leaders in the EMS field. Congratulations! #LACoFD #LACoFDEMS #AHA #EMSWeek2020
