With our Vintage Americana show on the horizon, we couldn’t think of a more perfect item to bring into the barn than wooden flags. Valley Center locals, Paul ...and Jamaica Dieter make handcrafted wooden American folk-art flags under the name America the Beautiful. By trade, Jamaica is a violinist/fiddler and Paul is a sound recording engineer. Last year, they lost their jobs during the pandemic, and immediately channeled their energy back into their home town of Valley Center. The fact they are still flying their flag high after the challenges of the past year is a testament to their perseverance and love for their country.As a farming community, people still live close to the land, says Jamaica. In Valley Center, we are blessed to be part of the simple country life and homesteading that is part of the Americana culture. From the music industry to the world of carpentry, they held their heads high and started to craft a product they believe embraces the simple yet elegant heritage of Americana farm life and folk art. . . .and then, they contacted Brick n Barn for their big debut. Get ready for the result: a rustic, natural wooden flag, with lightly burnt edges on the stars and stripes. We love the American flag as an endearing symbol that unites us all, adds Jamaica.
