Spent the day surrounded by art inspired by Frida Kahlo! My favorite pieces were done by the 8-12th graders... the depth and courage to create and write about their pain was inspiring and healing. It reminded me that the healing the world needs can be find through sharing our story, especially the painful parts. So about last night... My family at San Diego Made created a socially distanced live model session with live music! Shout out to @alyssastew.art for setting it all up! It was the first time I painted the energy of someone in a live session! Thank you @shaunaartanddesign for giving me that gentle nudge to do it! The music was soulful and the energy of the entire night was so healing! The time has come for me to dive into the depths of this canvas! Over the last week I’ve been exploring acrylics. I have an appreciation for the mediumI and see value and places I can use it. However, the biggest thing I’ve learned this week is that my heart and soul belong to oil paints! I was drawn to them from the beginning and have dedicated 6 years to cultivating and developing a relationship with them. They just get me and I just get them. ::Feeling real might delete later:: Most days all I wanna do is dance to the sounds and vibrations of all that I feel. That is my dream. That is when I’m living inspired. Lately, however, everything has been reduced to noise. It’s overwhelming. I can’t find any rhythm or melody, just painful noise. From all that is happening in the world to all that is unfolding personally it’s been hard to find my footing and be inspired. I continue to get up and fake it until I make it. I...’m going to my studio more, I have events and podcasts I’ll be participating in this month, but the truth is... it feels like more noise to me in an already overwhelming experience. I’m grateful for the beautiful moments that I’ve had this year where everything was music and I’m doing my best to find my way back. To feel deeply in a time like this. To be creative in a time like this. What an experience.
