I am SO proud of these women and my law school. <3 <3 <3 Congratulations ladies! What an accomplishment. For those of you not aware, being accepted to law review is widely thought to be one of the most, if not the most, prestigious accomplishment in law school -- an even greater accomplishment to be on its managing board. Law review is essential for those who desire a clerkship with a judge and often for law firm jobs, especially with larger firms. This will be a part...icularly great learning experience for them since we are a profession for which quality legal research and writing is critical. Although it's certainly possible to become an excellent legal researcher and writer without appointment to law review, being accepted to law review is indisputably an invaluable learning experience for any law student. Congratulations again!!! See more
Great job ABA. Can't tell you how many times I've been subject to these types of demeaning terms and differential treatment (ie. my argument silenced mid-sentence but turned to my male counterpart to essentially get his "ok" for me to argue!). I've experienced this not only from male attorneys I've worked for, but also opposing counsel, and even judges. My female colleagues have had countless similar experiences. I graduated law school and passed the bar exam the first time, and I work very hard -- I should not have to deal with that type of mistreatment and neither should my female colleagues. Thank you to all the ABA delegates who voted for this much-needed change!!!
The Employment Development Department will soon be upgrading the way applicants and employees access online benefit services. Beginning Monday, October 16, 2017, the EDD's "Benefit Programs Online" will become a single system through which applicants/employees may apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits and State Disability Insurance (SDI) benefits, which includes claims for Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL). Until then, filing and maintaining claim...s for these benefits are handled via two separate online systems, depending upon the benefit claimed. Before Oct 16th, access UI and SDi benefits at the following links: UI: https://ccr.edd.ca.gov//Pages//ExternalUser/UIOnline.aspx SDI: http://edd.ca.gov/Disability/SDI_Online.htm On or after Oct 16th, applicants/employees need to create a new login for "Benefit Programs Online" to file or maintain claims, and existing users should use their existing UI or SDI login info. Find more information on the new system here: http://edd.ca.gov/Benefit_Programs_Online.htm
