Cosmetic acupuncture is an ancient, non-surgical way to rejuvenate the skin, the body, and the mind. Cosmetic acupuncture uses points on the face to stimulate blood circulation to the skin and increase collagen & elastin production. This results in firmer skin, reduced wrinkles, even skin tone, tightening of jowls, and more. Natural & painless, cosmetic acupuncture is the choice of those looking for new vibrancy without the desire for surgery or chemical injections.... What should I do after my acupuncture treatment? The work we do together during your treatment is an opportunity for you to TUNE OUT AND TUNE IN. Meaningtune out all the voices from the outside world.... And tune in to your inner world. If you feel tired after your treatment, rest. If you feel energized after your treatment, go for a walk. If you feel hungry after your treatment, eat. And so on... Listen to your inner voice.

The short answer is NOPE! The long answer is: sometimes you feel a pinch, sometimes you feel a dull achy sensation, sometimes you feel a cool or warming sensation, sometimes you feel nothing at all *And this also applies to cosmetic acupuncture. That’s right: acupuncture in your face to reduce fine lines and wrinkles doesn’t hurt! ... If you’re coming in for orthopedic acupuncture, sometimes I will intentionally cause a small muscle spasm by working with a motor point, which in turn makes the muscle we are working with RELAX. And it doesn’t hurt, it just feels like whoa for a sec. And to top it off, I actually have a gentle hand, meaning compared to other acupuncturists my needling style is generally very gentle. Do you have other questions about what acupuncture may feel like? Feel free to ask below!

I am seriously enjoying this gorgeous Spring weather, are you??! Here is a snapshot of an alpine lake I recently hiked to. This is why you feel so damn good after your treatment! Acupuncture turns down your sympathetic nervous system (known as fight-or-flight). Acupuncture turns up your parasympathetic nervous system (known as rest-and-repair).... Recent research has also shown what indigenous medicine systems have known for thousands of years: taking deep, slow breaths also has a positive effect on the nervous system. This is why I often have patients take a few slow, deep breaths before I leave the room. Creating time in your life to deeply de-stress has profound effects on your mood and overall health. Give me a call when you're ready to spend an hour de-stressing and reconnecting with your center.

Acupuncture out performs conventional care when treating headaches, according to many Western medical studies. Headaches and migraines can have many causes: - stress - tight shoulders or neck muscles, or both... - Poor lifestyle habits such as always skipping meals - TMJ - not drinking enough water - lack of proper sleep - Side effect of medications any and all of these things and more! Acupuncture, herbal medicine, and sustainable lifestyle changes can reduce, and often alleviate headaches and chronic migraines. Many patients come to me because they don’t want to consume more medications or their medications aren’t working.

Women’s health is a big part of my practice. Many patients experience clots in their period, indicating stagnation in the reproductive system. Some causes of clotty periods can be: Endometriosis... Adenomyosis Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Fibroids Many times my patients report their gynecologist was unable to detect a cause for their clots. Clotty periods are also commonly seen in patients struggling to become pregnant. Whether you have a Western diagnosis or not, acupuncture & herbal medicine can often eliminate clots altogether. This also means eliminating the severe cramps that come with. If you’re interested in a natural way of regulating your menstrual cycle, click the link in my bio for more information or to schedule an appointment.

This point on the belly is powerful for regulating the digestive system. Diarrhea, constipation, nausea, bloating, poor appetite, pain with eating, gas, etc. Many patients suffering from gastrointestinal disorders love this point!... During the treatment we often hear the stomach loudly rumbling and grumbling, as if to say YASSSSSSSS!. #guthealth #stomachpain #ibs #acupunctureworks #healthandwellness #chinesemedicine #nausea #feelbetter #maintenancehealthcare #appetite #irregularbowelmovements

Da Zao Jujube // Chinese Date // Fructus Ziziphi jujuba Da Zao is a corner stone herb in Chinese herbal medicine. This special fruit is sweet and warm, gently nourishing & warming the digestive system. It is included in many Chinese herbal formulas at a low dosage for its ability to harmonize and moderate the effects of stronger herbs. ... Da Zao is used in higher dosages to nourish Blood and calm the spirit. I use Da Zao in this way when treating the after effects of post-stroke, neurological conditions, and emotional shock. These experiences/conditions affect us on a deep level, drying out the body fluids and Blood of our heart and brain. We need these fluids to function well, just like you maintain clean oil in your car engine. If you don’t do this the engine eventually seizes and stops working. One example of this is when treating emotional shock that lingers after the death of a loved one. This manifests as being easy to cry, feeling unsettled, hard time falling sleep due to grief, and feeling the need to exhale often as if unloading a constant weight from the lungs. In these instances, I use a high dose of Da Zao, which immediately goes to the heart (physical and energetic), like a warm syrup, where it is absorbed immediately, calming the spirit/emotions and lessening the uncontrollable crying that occurs over any little thing. Due to its gently nourishing properties, da zao is used as a food. You can find it fresh in many Asian farmers markets. When fresh it is eaten like an apple. When dry it can be eaten as a snack or included in soups and bone broth, adding extra nourishment to food. Da Zao is one of the many Chinese herbs we can get organic and for that I am so grateful.

Here are some tips for mediating symptoms of upper respiratory DRYNESS due to breathing wildfire smoke: Our bodies need Body Fluids to function properly. This is a basic Chinese medical concept that is easily understood by Western minds. We need body fluids to cry, keep our eyes moist, to sweat, to digest food, to urinate, etc. Smoke in the air causes dryness, especially during prolonged exposure.... We may experience dryness via upper respiratory tract dryness (dry nose, dry mouth, dry throat), as well as dryness in other body systems: dry eyes, constipation, dry skin, or increased thirst. The amazing thing is that we can use our diet and cooking methods do mediate the drying effects of the smoky air. Cooking methods to use are: steaming, braising, and boiling. *Notice: these methods employ liquids to cook your food. Foods that nourish body fluids: pears, apples, lettuces, fresh tomatoes, cucumber (including cumber slices in your water), radishes (fresh and fermented), peaches, figs, tofu, black sesame seeds, chia seeds, pine nuts, lily bulbs, chrysanthemum (as tea), and honey. *Notice: all these foods are currently in season. How cool is that? Let me know if you try any of these cooking methods or foods and what your experience is. Don’t forget to look back at my previous post on herbs you can use as teas or tincture for dryness symptoms.

When you are prepared, it's easier to keep calm, gather the children and animals, and get out safely. Visualizing what you will do in the event of an evacuation (following your to-do list) can help you to go into "go" mode, rather than "freak out" mode.

Are you having increased anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm? I want you to know that you are not alone. We are all, collectively, navigating new experiences with the pandemic. I experience periods of overwhelm too. I miss international travel, eating at new restaurants, and seeing my friends & family. Emotions are not pathological. But when we get STUCK in the emotions, and they begin ruling our life by affecting our daily habits, our appetite, sleep, etc, that is p...roblematic. Acupuncture can help us mediate these natural emotional responses and bring them back to balance. Acupuncture can help us maintain our center. From a conventional medical point of view, acupuncture regulates hormones and interrupts the chronic release of the stress hormone aka cortisol from the adrenal glands Cortisol prevents our body from the natural rest-and-repair function, and thus it absolutely suppresses our immune system. If you need emotional grounding and are feeling too stressed out too much of the time, reach out and let’s get you scheduled. You can schedule via telephone, my number is in my bio above. You can think of an acupuncture treatment for stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm as going on a mini vacation. The acupuncture will relax you, and where you go is completely up to you.
