It can be challenging to pick the right components when working on a new schematic. You have to consider availability, cost, and various parametric requirements. What if you could place a component to complete your design and quickly replace it when you are ready for layout? Introducing new Generic Components. Simply provide generic parameters, such as Value or Footprint, to greatly speed-up your capturing process while eliminating the need to search for specific Part Numbers or creating a needed component from scratch. Now you can quickly assemble a prototype and estimate the board dimensions without slowing down for component creation. https://youtu.be/OHvRpShxG9I

These days, it seems like everything is getting smart and connected. With the newest release of Bluetooth, component manufacturers are going the route of SoCs to integrate MCU and transceiver functionality in a single package. These SoCs are available as standalone chips, or you can buy an integrated module with a printed antenna. Here’s what you need to know when planning a new device around Bluetooth 5.1 https://bit.ly/3kR9Thz

Board region management is essential for a Rigid-flex design. Major enhancements in the PCB editor make it simpler and more transparent to accomplish Rigid-flex design goals. Bend lines can now be placed on multiple overlapping board regions and can be selectively applied to any region for accurate folding control. Plus, multiple bend-line selection enables advanced support for Rigid Flex constructions, such as bookbinder. Improvements to Bend line behavior allows greater flexibility for independent bending of partially isolated flex areas without affecting the entire PCB region. https://youtu.be/0mIuvcTZSok

Look through the specs on common MCUs and ICs, and you’ll see the terms I2C, SPI, and UART thrown about. If you’re a new designer, these protocols may seem esoteric, but they are surprisingly simple to design on your PCB. Here’s what you need to know about these common bus protocols and to work with them in your PCB layout. https://bit.ly/3e9Zgnv

A solder bridge jumper is often seen among maker boards, but they are useful in production-grade projects as they allow a designer to make a board configurable. If you need to produce multiple variants of the same board, a solderable jumper is a simple way to select open or closed signal paths. Here are some best practices for using solder bridge jumpers in your PCB and how you can include them in your design data. https://bit.ly/37CXv1e
