Your Chamber Board of Directors wishing you and your family very.....
It was my pleasure, along with Mark Mariscal on behalf of the Rotary Club of Altadena to present to Jennifer Polk and her daughter Angel gift cards, food, and some additional goodies to put under the Christmas tree. The gift cards will enable Angel to purchase the shiny new bike she has her eye on. Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays from your Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors 2020 has been a particularly difficult year for many of us and is ending with another health order preventing businesses and community organizations from operating in a normal way. We want to encourage everyone to support the local businesses; now more than ever your patronage may make the difference in whether a local restaurant, store, or service will be here next year. Our community, your neighbors, and our... friends are relying on each of us to help them, just as they have been there for us these many years. Our Chamber, like all of us, has struggled with trying to figure out how to do business and provide services and value to our customers and members under COVID restrictions. We know how difficult operating a small business was prior to COVID, and obviously, the added challenges created since COVID became a reality are vast and none of us has all the answers as how best to meet the challenges. The Chamber recognizes the importance and value that a vibrant business community adds to the overall health and vitality of a community. Please know that we are continually looking for effective ways to support and promote our business community. However, please know and keep in mind that our resources are limited, and we must have community engagement to be successful. Don’t forget - YOUR SUCCESS IS OUR SUCCESS I am hopeful and optimistic that the vaccines now being released will be the beginning of the end of this pandemic and we can begin the long journey of recovery and discovery. While I don’t believe we can go back to normal, we have the opportunity to forge new paths and concepts in the way we do business, network, and communicate. I am also pleased to announce that we have four new members joining our board on February 5th, 2021, adding to, and creating an even more dynamic group to lead the chamber into the new year. Please consider becoming more involved in your community in 2021, we are stronger working together! On behalf of our board of directors: We wish you and your family a safe, joyful holiday season and may the New Year bring you success and happiness.
It has been two years since Grocery Outlet here in Altadena opened and they have been a wonderful addition to our community!

The fire behavior was very active to extreme with long-range spotting, tree torching, and visible slope runs. The priority of fire operations focused on the southern area of the fire to take advantage of the favorable wind direction and protect the foothill communities. The main objective was to prepare and strengthen fire lines from completed dozer and handline work. As the day progressed and the dense smoke lifted, two air tankers, including a DC-10, were able to make several drops of fire retardant on the southwest portion of the fire to reinforce and strengthen previously applied fire lines. Several more resources arrived at the fire late in the day, including a sky crane helicopter and two more hotshot crews. Local fire departments continued with their structure protection planning and triage efforts within the foothill communities. Nighttime operations will continue into the evening to monitor fire behavior and growth

Donation to Altadena Sheriff Station Last week, our Rotary Club of Altadena donated and had delivered a new Exercise Rowing Machine for use by the staff at the Altadena Sheriff Station. In the picture, you can see President David Smith, Mark and I standing with Captain Marjory Jacobs and Deputies Lierda, Gee and Sgt. Busch in the station gym adjacent to the new piece of equipment. The staff was very appreciative. ... This type of donation is made possible by the donation that the club receives annually from our Altadena Rotary Charities Fund and by member's contributions to the Happy Bucks portion of our meetings.

Many of you may not know about this especially in Altadena! The Pasadena Humane Society is close to losing their animal control contracts with Altadena and La Crescenta. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will soon be voting on this and we must make our voices heard, since the animals we love can't! Sign this petition, send your concerns to Supervisor Kathryn Barger and stop County Run Baldwin Park Shelter from reclaiming our community. We are so lucky to have Pasadena Humane taking care of our animals!
