Why certify your garden? Did you know that Alpine California was designated as the Nation’s First Certified Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife ...Federation on May 1, 1999? Today we have 248 certified gardens. In order to keep our designation we continue to encourage Alpine residents to certify their garden. We receive points for each certified garden and you only need to certify once. No one comes out to look at your garden. If you don't live in Alpine you can still certify your garden. If you do live in Alpine you already have the four elements: food, water, a place to raise young and shelter. For water you can put out a bird bath or a bowl of water. Even a small patio garden can be certified. It is not the amount of plants and water you have on your property, it is providing the four elements. Create a child’s garden in your backyard and have it certified. Place a NWF Certification plaque in that garden. You can order plaques from NWF.org. The one plant we encourage you to have in your garden is milkweed, Asclepius fasicularus variety. This is the only plant the Monarch butterfly lays her eggs on. The Monarchs have plummeted by 90% due to a limited amount of milkweed plants. With your help we can help the Monarchs thrive. Also plant some pollinator plants to keep the Monarchs in your garden, like golden rod and lilac verbena. There is a list of pollinator plants online. To certify your garden go to www.NWF.org and fill out the application. Fee is only $20. Please email me to let me know that your garden is certified so I can add your name to our master list. When we each do our small part Alpine can become a haven for Monarch butterflies. Lets keep those little critters happy. Thanks so much. Alpine American Little League's $20 per square Win: $150 in quarters 1-3 Win: $300 final score... Names will be randomly assigned to squares. Bracket numbers will be picked the day before they game. I will be leading a K-Grade 2 learning pod. (Maximum 6 children) beginning Jan 25th. M-F 8am-3:30pm I will assist with digital learning, homework help, and kee...ping the children on track with their overall school work. Daily schedule to consist of schoolwork, snack, lunch, outdoor playtime, and the overall care of the children. The location will rotate between the families houses as agreed upon. 20+ years experience, cpr/first aid trained, clean background check. Check out my "Alpine Tutoring and Childcare" page on Facebook to get a glimpse of myself and what I do. 1st child $15 per hour. Every additional child after that is $2 per hour. Families will split the total cost.
