As such, we were tremendously humbled to read the words in @sfgate that highlighted the philanthropic efforts of our 15th annual Winter Speaker Series (LINK IN PROFILE). The most rewarding part of this is that we've built this together, as a community. So we write to you this morning to say thank you. Thank you for helping us buil...d the Winter Speaker Series and for your support throughout our 42-year existence. We are so grateful. When we needed your help the most this past spring, when COVID was so scary, you propped us up in a way that we’ve called one of the most beautiful acts of humanity we will ever see. With your financial support we were able to survive, and then thrive, during a global pandemic. Today, we are extremely happy (and proud!) to tell you that we are on strong financial ground. As such, we would like to pay this karmic generosity forward and propose that you consciously divert your spending from the shop and help continue our philanthropic efforts in our community. 1. Join our "Donor Party," an anonymous philanthropic offshoot of the Winter Speaker Series. Your commitment is tax deductible and is split five ways for the non-profit beneficiaries of the WSS. While we love selling gear, the fulfillment that comes with supporting groups that are making a difference in the world is MUCH more important. We believe our 42-year-old standing in the community dictates a moral imperative to support our these needs. Winston Churchill Our second Winter Speaker Series show last night, with the one and only Cody Townsend, shattered all of our 15-year fundraising records, with over $75,000 raised for the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. As such, we thought now would be a good time to share this amazing story from SFGATE. At the conclusion of this season, our North Tahoe and Truckee community will eclipse the $750,0...00-raised mark. We are so tremendously proud of this and can't thank you enough for your support. While we are stoked to do it, we believe that our platform dictates that we have a moral imperative to do so ... and that we are really just stewards for your big hearts and these wonderful non-profits. While we love selling backcountry equipment and trail running shoes, the fulfillment that comes with a community-centric business model enriches our lives beyond description.
