Happy 17th Birthday to my old man, Crown Royal! He was our very first alpaca, purchased as a yearling, and because of him The Alpaca Hacienda was born back in 2004. And he's still got it...owns those younger males in his paddock like a BOSS! Here's to many more, Crownie!

Hanging out with my little buddy, Kwynn. This guy makes me laugh every day...he's such a character! I call him my little "Mischief Maker," for those that are old enough to remember where that term came from :)

Today was one of those days that remind me why I get up in the morning and why I do what I do. Tim and Jackie have renewed their wedding vows every year, and this is their 33rd year of being "Newreweds" as they call themselves. Each ceremony is in the company of a different species of animal...elephants, manatees, tigers, water buffaloes and skunks are just a few of the guests that have blessed their vows, and this year they chose alpacas. Such a sweet ceremony, surrounded by the herd, re-affirming their love and commitment to each other. Jackie told me that her husband has given her a card every week for 33 years.

Shearing Day 2020 was a huge success! So much fun getting together with friends and getting the job done. Perfect weather, lots of fabulous fleeces, and the alpacas love having their heavy winter coats off. Thanks to the most fantastic shearing team on the planet, Graciano Hernandez and Benjamin Marquez, for your professionalism and kind treatment of our alpacas. We appreciate all you do!

Yes, Kwynn, we have "herd" and we couldn't be happier! The Alpaca Hacienda is re-opening on Saturdays and Sundays for private family and friends tours at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.
