I began my 45th year painting one of my favorite walls in our East Oakland neighborhood. For those of you that grew up around here, this is the site of the old ...A&N liquor store that used to sell beer to us deviant high school kids back in the day. Today it is the home of Alma's Bridal & Flower Shop. It's been nice to return to this spot a little older, a little wiser, knees a little shakier Cosmic Flower Bomb #3 was painted amidst a backdrop of the now annual fire season here in California that continues to devastate communities around our state. As overwhelming as the current circumstances in our world feel, we can't give up hope of the possibility for new growth and rebirth. I am continually inspired by our amazing local muralists working continually to bring messages of hope, justice and beauty to our city: Pancho Pescador, Timothy Bluitt, DJ AGANA, Twin Walls Mural Company, Trust Your Struggle, CRP Bay Area, Los Pobres Artistas and local legends like Dan Fontes & Daniel Galvez...there are so many more.
