The Creamy-ish Mushroom Soup is calling my inner vegan conscience, but the Pork Ragu + Polenta went straight to the depths of my comfort-food-desirous soul. A.B. #stayhome https://www.bonappetit.com/r/slideshow/comfort-food-recipes

While our office is temporarily closed, we are only supposed to see life threatening dental infections or acute facial trauma. It's far more likely that one of your crowns will come off. If that happens, below is a link to a video recorded by our former intern and one heck of a dentist, Dr. Nicole Vane of Moonlight Beach, California. Check it out and please take good care of your teeth during this period! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DeCokdb-RA

Important Coronavirus Update from Dr. Bernstein Everyone’s safety is our utmost concern. As information evolves regarding the coronavirus pandemic, we are closely monitoring recommendations from the CDC, the ADA, the CDA, and other public health agencies. Based on the social-distancing recommendations of Governor Newsom and the California Dental Association, as of now, our office remains open for emergency care only and only under the following conditions:... 1. If you have a fever or a cough, your appointment must be rescheduled. 2. If you have traveled to any locations that have a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for COVID-19, within the last 2 weeks, your appointment must be rescheduled. 3. When you arrive, we will take your temperature. If you have a fever or a cough, your appointment will be rescheduled. 4. If you have an emergency and that emergency can be treated remotely that is what we will do. Examples of remote treatment are an email, a prescription, a specialist referral, a phone call, or a video call. To be clear, all cleanings/hygiene appointments are postponed for at least 2 weeks beginning immediately. All fillings, crowns, and non-emergency care is also postponed. If you have an appointment, we will be reaching out to you. We expect to re-open our office for all manner of services as soon as it is safe to do so. We will keep you updated as the situation changes. In the meantime, we are here for you. The best and fastest way to reach us is by text and feel free to do so at any time with questions or concerns: Allison Bernstein, Office Manager: 510-910-3065 Dr. Josh Bernstein: 510-812-2327 (emergencies only)

Dr. Bernstein’s message on Coronavirus: Safety is our first priority, in our response to Coronavirus--and every day. Every year, our practice goes through rigorous in-office training on preventing cross-contamination, and we follow strict OSHA guidelines for your safety. Before you are seated in a treatment room, that room has been completely wiped down with a hospital grade disinfectant. And our staff follows strict protocols for your safety.... Nevertheless, if you are sick with a cold or the flu, please stay home. If you have a dental appointment with us and you are sick, please contact us and cancel your appointment--unless it is a genuine emergency such as swelling or pain. You will not be charged for a late cancellation if you are sick. Please read further for general safety precautions to prevent Coronavirus and follow these guidelines for the safety of yourself and those around you: Please stay home if you are sick. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 secondsand do it a lot. Carry hand sanitizer and use it before and after you touch something public, such as the keypad at the grocery check-out. Use your elbow to press elevator buttons, crosswalk buttons etc. If the stores are sold out of hand sanitizer, use a small bottle to carry around some rubbing alcohol. 70% isopropyl alcohol is widely available and is effective in killing the virus. Don’t touch your face! Transmission of the virus succeeds when people take a contaminated hand and touch their eyes, nose, or mouth. If your nose or eyes itch, use a tissue, then wash your hands. Cover your coughs and sneezes, but not with your hands! Cough into a tissue or into your elbow. If you cough into a tissue, throw it away, then wash your hands. Keep your distance! Instead of shaking hands or hugging, do an elbow bump or jazz hands, (a double handed wave). And don’t be a close talkermaintain a safe distance of 3-4 feet from people when talking to avoid contaminated droplets from speech. Avoid crowds and public places if possible. This is a good time to hunker down at home. Avoid unnecessary travel, especially by airplane or ship. Wishing everyone good health! Josh Bernstein, DDS
