Will you join us for giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020, by making a donation at: https://alliance-for-africa.org/donate.php We believe that all refugees deserve a path towards a life of self-sufficiency.... You can help us provide emergency needs, including rental assistance, and hygiene products to refugees during these challenging times in San Diego. Additionally, your support will further our work abroad, including providing education to orphaned and severely impoverished children in Uganda. Moreover, you will be enabling mental health training and peace conferences for refugees in Kenya and supporting culinary arts training to refugees interested in a career as a chef in Rome. #givingtuesday #refugees

Did you know that Alliance for African Assistance operates a non-profit Thrift Store called Safari Seconds which is dedicated to assisting and supporting refugees in meeting their basic needs required to adapt to their new homes? Frequently, many refugees arrive in the United States with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Our Thrift Store helps to provide a wide selection of items such as furniture, mattress sets, appliances, clothing, and household items to help ...as they rebuild and begin their lives in the US. Each year the Thrift Store provides support to approximately 1000 individuals and families. The Thrift Store is operated by a dedicated staff and a wonderful group of volunteers. All profits and proceeds from the Thrift Store are used to cover the majority of the operating costs required to provide free furniture and household goods to the refugees. Not only is the Thrift Store a place to shop, but it also functions as an on-the-job training site for many of our refugees. Refugees receive training in sorting donations, stocking the sales floor shelves, and managing the sales register. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to learn how to work within a retail store environment. Come visit and shop with us. The Thrift Store is a wonderful place to find a wide selection of quality bargain new and used merchandise. Normal store hours: Monday Sunday: 10 am 6 pm 2875 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104, (619) 282-4218

Please visit https://allianceforafrica.wpcomstaging.com/ Our World Refugee Day Celebration is active now and you still have time to play a vital role. From the moment of arrival to being granted citizenship and beyond, the Alliance for African Assistance provides: unprecedented support in an unprecedented time here in San Diego. Consider the following account from our Immigration Specialists, Sumaya and Basman.... A refugee arrived in San Diego and was assigned to our agency. Upon arrival, we assisted with securing a safe place to live. After a year, our client requested that we help them apply to receive the Green Card, which allows someone to live and work permanently in the United States. Next, our client requested our assistance in helping to setup consular processing for their partner and new born daughter who were both residing abroad. They attended an interview in-country and were approved for immigrant visas to travel to the United States and reconnect as a family here in San Diego. As family and baby continue to follow steps to one day hopefully become citizens of the United States, Alliance for African Assistance is proud to help them continue to navigate the immigration process together. #refugees #immigration #sandiego #family
