All Hallows Church 27.03.2021

She was the daughter of emotionally-distant parents, a couple always at war with each other and their children. She grew up believing that there was something wrong with her, that she was ungracious, selfish, and coal. The label stuck into her teens and as a young adult. Friendships and relationships were disastrous because she believed she deserved what she got that she was the damaged one and that anyone who got close to her deserved what they got.... https://www.allhallows.com/friday-of-the-3rd-week-in-lent/

Today Father Jerry shares that in Thornton Wilder's play The Skin of Our Teeth, Maggie Antrobus confronts her husband who is about to leave her for his mistress. She tells him, "I didn't marry you because you were perfect, George, I married you because you gave me a promise. That promise made up for your faults. And the promise I gave you made up for mine.... https://www.allhallows.com/thursday-of-the-3rd-week-in-lent/

As mom was driving away from the house, headed toward school, little Aiden started crying because he forgot his backpack. More tears and sniffles follow as he starts thinking about what his teacher might do and say when it's time for homework to be turned in. What mom does next is absolutely priceless. What would you have done in the same situation? Hear all about it in Father Jerry's brand new video above, for today, Wednesday, March 10th. https://www.allhallows.com/wednesday-of-the-3rd-week-in-le/

"Forgiveness is not easy. It means overcoming our own anger and outrage at injustice waged against us, and focusing our concern instead on the person who wronged us, and ruptured our relationship with him or her," says Father Jerry in today's homily, "It means possessing the humility to face the hurt we have inflicted on others as a result of our insensitivity and self-centeredness.... https://www.allhallows.com/tuesday-of-the-3rd-week-in-lent/

Today the church celebrates the 32nd Sunday in ordinary time. As the church reckons time, there are, counting today, four more Sunday celebrations in the old year. As the church reckons time, a new liturgical year begins with the 1st Sunday of Advent on November 29th. That's the reason that for the next four weeks the church will be focusing our attention on the end times, reminding us that one day Jesus Christ will come again in glory. Jesus challenges us to consider how we use money and resources. Do we use them to better our lives and the lives of those we love? Do we put what we have at the service of one another? Or does the pursuit of wealth become an end in itself... the singular focus and the purpose of our lives? In today's Gospel Jesus puts it bluntly: We cannot serve God AND money. https://www.allhallows.com/saturday-of-the-31st-week-in-or/

Father Jerry wonders in today's homily, "Maybe God is your bank account, or 401k, or stock portfolio, if your days are focused on amassing wealth. Or your God might be technology; you worship the newest, the biggest, the most state-of-the-art. Or could it be that your God is you your culture, your race, your gender, your nationality, and everyone else, well, isn't God. In the two parables in today's Gospel, Jesus reminds us that it is in such complete and total love that we come to know what it means to be fully human... To realize that we have been made in God's image... To embrace and be embraced by the Spirit of God's love that the Father extends to every one of His sons and daughters. Thank you for watching today's video. God bless you. https://www.allhallows.com/thursday-of-the-31st-week-in-or/

"The election is over. Whether we like the results or not, our democracy continues," says Father Jerry in today's homily, "So the question is, are we able to come together and continue the great American experiment? Can we put aside what divides us,and embrace the values that unite us? Do we possess the vision of God to work together for our country's founding principles of justice for the poor and the vulnerable, and those on the margins of society?" https://www.allhallows.com/the-feast-of-saint-charles-borr/

Today the church celebrates The Feast of Saint Martin de Porres. Martin was born in Lima, Peru, of a Spanish father and a black slave mother. He was a lay brother who humbly ministered to the poor and the sick, especially African slaves. Devoted to the Holy Eucharist, he was a close friend of Saint Rose of Lima, Patron of Social Justice, and of peoples of mixed races. Today is The Feast of All Souls. Today we pause to remember all those who have gone before us in faith, and who have been gathered into the fullness of God's reign forever. Today we pause to remember that this world, wonderful as it sometimes, is not our permanent home, and that one day each of us must face death. A Priest passing through his church In the middle of the day, Decided to pause by the altar To see who come to pray. Just then the back door opened,... And a man came down the aisle, The Priest frowned as he saw the man Hadn't shaved in a while. His shirt was torn and shabby, And his coat was worn and frayed, The man knelt down and bowed his head, Then rose and walked away. . In the days that followed at precisely noon, The Priest saw this man, Each time he knelt just for a moment, A lunch box in his lap. Well, the Priest’s suspicions grew, With robbery a main fear, . He decided to stop and ask the man, 'What are you doing here?' The old man said he was a factory worker And lunch was half an hour Lunchtime was his prayer time, For finding strength and power. I stay only a moment Because the factory's far away; As I kneel here talking to the Lord, This is kinda what I say: . 'I JUST CAME BY TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS BEN, JUST CHECKING IN TODAY.' . The Priest was feeling foolish, Told Ben that it was fine. He told the man that he was welcome To pray there anytime. 'It's time to go, and thanks,' Ben said As he hurried to the door. Then the Priest knelt there at the altar, Which he'd never done before. His cold heart melted, warmed with love, As he met with Jesus there. As the tears flowed down his cheeks, He repeated old Ben's prayer: . 'I JUST CAME by TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME, JUST CHECKING IN TODAY.' . Past noon one day, the Priest noticed That old Ben hadn't come. As more days passed and still no Ben, He began to worry some. At the factory, he asked about him, Learning he was ill. The hospital staff was worried, But he'd given them a thrill. . The week that Ben was with them, Brought changes in the ward. His smiles and joy contagious. Changed people were his reward. The head nurse couldn't understand Why Ben could be so glad, When no flowers, calls or cards came, Not a visitor he had. . The Priest stayed by his bed, He voiced the nurse's concern: No friends had come to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn. Looking surprised, old Ben spoke up And with a winsome smile; 'The nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, He's been here all the while.' Everyday at noon He comes here, A dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down and takes my hand, Leans over and says to me: . 'I JUST CAME BY TO TELL YOU, BEN, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN . I THINK ABOUT YOU ALWAYS AND I LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY, AND SO BEN, THIS IS JESUS, JUST CHECKING IN TODAY .' . If this blesses you, pass it on. Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart . May God hold you in the palm of His hand And Angels watch over you.. Please pass this page on to your friends & loved ones. If you aren't ashamed. Jesus said, ' If you are ashamed of me,' I will be ashamed Of you before my Father.' . If you are not ashamed, pass this on. So, FRIEND, this is ME ... "Just Checking In Today" AMEN

Today the Church celebrates Friday of the 30th week in ordinary time. Let us pray. God of all good, instill in our hearts a spirit of gratefulness for the many ways You have blessed us. Hear our prayers for those we remember, with thanks. For in them, we have experienced Your mercy and peace in our lives. May our remembrance of them this November inspire us to be Your blessing of peace and revelation of Your grace for others. Amen https://www.allhallows.com/friday-of-the-30th-week-in-ordi/
