Dear friends: I want to thank Raj Jayadev of Silicon Valley De-Bug for creating this incredible story of Neko and my family's10-year journey for Justice. Parts of this social biography video dealing with California's barbaric felony-murder rule and SB 1437 will be featured in the NEW YORK TIMES this week. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers and feel free to share Neko's story as we still have a few big legal battles to win. Neko Wilson - Social Biography... I'm excited to announce that my law firm has teamed up with my law school friend, super lawyer Minh Nguyer, to file a lawsuit against Justin Bieber because THE RULES OF SAFETY APPLY TO STARS TOO . . . PRESS RELEASE JUSTIN BIEBER’S INSURANCE COMPANY’S LOWBALL OFFER LEADS TO HIM BEING SUED BY WILLIAM WILSON... On July 26, 2017, Justin Bieber hit William Wilson with his pickup truck as he was leaving the Saban Theater. Mr. Wilson was working as a professional photographer filming Mr. Bieber. As Mr. Bieber was pulling out of a driveway, his oversized pickup truck struck Mr. Wilson as he was filming. The incident was captured on video, https://www.dropbox.com//2n0qmo/AACoIiTDslTfMWqk81s_Mxuza front right wheel of the truck struck Mr. Wilson’s right knee, causing a meniscus tear and contusion of his ankle. A loud thud can be heard on the video as the tire struck Mr. Wilson’s leg. Mr. Wilson fell down and was immobilized. Mr. Wilson underwent right knee arthroscopic meniscectomy to repair a tear in his meniscus and damages to his knee cap by renown surgeon Dr. Rajan Patel at Towers Orthopedics. The injuries have hampered Mr. Wilson’s ability to return to work and support his daughter. Mr. Wilson and United Financial Casualty Company (Mr. Bieber’s insurance Company) have been in quiet settlement negotiations attempting to resolve Mr. Wilson’s claim against Mr. Bieber. In February 2019, the parties attended private mediation with The Honorable Jacqueline A. Connor (Ret.). Those settlement discussions did not lead to a resolution, prompting Mr. Wilson to file this lawsuit. Why does the lawsuit name Mr. Bieber when it is his insurance company that did not settle? In California, the law does not permit an injured party to name the insurance company even though the insurance company has all the power and rights to decide how much to settle a case. Even Mr. Bieber with his celebrity status cannot compel an insurance company to settle. The insurance company gets to hide behind the celebrity status of Mr. Bieber to lowball Mr. Wilson, believing that jurors will be sympathetic to Mr. Bieber and not Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson has no ill-will towards Mr. Bieber. Mr. Wilson understands that it was not Mr. Bieber’s decision not to resolve his claim fairly and fully. Mr. Wilson does not want to sue Mr. Bieber but he has no choice because the insurance company is lowballing as it often does to injured people. Mr. Wilson is represented by Minh T. Nguyen of Nguyen Lawyers, A Law Corporation, www.nguyenlawyers.com, located in Long Beach, CA and Jacq M. Wilson of Allan M. Schuman & Associates, http://www.painandsuffering.com, located in San Francisco, CA. The lawsuit is filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles. I was honored to be invited to our state capital today by Assemblymember Chris Holden. I was asked to give testimony to the education committee in support of AB 982. AB 982 furthers the ability of students to have access to their class assignments if they are suspended. I’m proud to be a part of legislation that will help close the achievement gap and decelerate the school-to-prison pipeline in our state.

I’m excited to announce that I will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Modesto/Stanislaus NAACP Freedom Fund Community Service Awards Banquet. Jacque will be presented with the Julian Bond award for his work on SB 1437, amending the felony-murder rule so that Neko and many others serving unjust sentences can come home to their families. Debbie Barrera and Renaldo Rucker’s, Jr., two amazing friends, partners, and advocates will also be honored, as well as CRLA for its advocacy on behalf of students in Modesto. Please support this worthy cause.

Dear Family, Friends, and Team: Congratulations to Jacque Wilson, Mack Wilson, and Advocates For Justice for appearing on the front page of today's San Francisco Chronicle regarding SB 1437 (Please see attachment below), the new law significantly narrowing the felony murder rule, saving tax payers millions of dollars, and giving hundreds of Californians a chance for freedom. The new law simply amends the felony-murder rule so that Californians are only punished for crimes the...y committed, not for murders they didn't do. According to the California Supreme Court, the felony murder rule is "barbaric" because it divorced intent from culpability. Thankfully, the California Legislature and Governor Brown agreed with the California Supreme Court, so that now, as of Sunday, September 30, 2018, Californians like my brother, Neko Wilson, who was facing a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a murder he didn't commit, will only be punished for what they did, not for a murder they never committed, intended, or fathomed. What has always been emotionally, morally, and legally hard for me to understand and try explain to my father, even though I am a seasoned attorney of more than 17 years, was how could the prosecutors could initially seek the death penalty against my brother for a murder he didn't commit, will hopefully never need to be explained again in California. My family, especially Jacque, has spent nearly a decade fighting Neko's unjust felony-murder charge. Now, because of the courage of state Sen. Nancy Skinner and Sen. Joel Anderson who jointly author SB 1437, the relentless efforts of Advocates like Kate Chatfield and Jacque Wilson, the felony murder-rule has been amended, and it looks as if the murder charges against my brother will be dropped, and Neko will be coming home to his family soon.
