Let’s talk meal plans To no fault of the clients’, there’s a common misconception about personal trainers and their ability to prescribe/ distribute meal plans....probably because so many personal trainers choose to create and sell meal plans, despite this being ILLEGAL Unless your PT is also a Registered Dietitian, they should NOT be selling you prescribed meal plans. I’m talking the kind of meal plans that tell you what to eat, how much, & when to eat it. ... So what CAN personal trainers do? Encourage clients to eat more lean protein and nutrient-rich vegetables. Educate clients about the benefits of protein, healthy fats, and other macronutrients. Educate clients about the principles of good nutrition and provide them with coaching to improve their eating habits. Help clients choose the right foods to eat before and after workouts. Offer clients recipes or food prep skills. Let clients know about evidence-based nutritional supplements that might augment their healthy lifestyle. (Above info found on precisionnutrition.com) For example: Trainers CANNOT prescribe a diet to treat someone’s obesity. Trainers CAN share nutrition ideas to support the client’s healthy lifestyle. See the difference? I am happy to provide nutritional guidance to my clients and teach the basics of nutrition. BUT, if you are looking for a specific meal plan, I will ALWAYS suggest you seek out a Registered Dietitian. Trainers DO NOT receive the same education on nutrition that RDs do! Because I regularly receive meal plan requests, I wanted to write this post to inform more people about personal trainers’ role with this. I hope it helps!

Happy November 1st...AKA OPENING MONTH!!! I want to be transparent as to where we are in this process, so here are some updates: As with most construction, there has been several delays in getting this new building finished. But, we are expecting it to be done within the next week!... Wall texture and wood stain is just about complete! Our contractor will finish painting & touch-ups tomorrow (Monday). Mirrors will be installed this Tuesday! Jonny and I plan to install the rubber flooring next weekend. Several other miscellaneous installations will also take place in the next week or so (water fountain, alarm system, etc.) I have a meeting tomorrow with our equipment sales rep to go over final details and secure an official install date. This will determine our opening date, so as soon as I secure this, I will announce the grand opening dayWe are estimating installation the week of the 9th. The amount of equipment calls for a 2 day install! I have underdone 4 hours of training for the new gym software with 1-2 more to go. This software will manage memberships, scheduling, & more. This, along with other information I am putting together, will soon be updated onto my website for your viewing. I THINK those are all the (important) updates I have at this time. Assuming no further delays, we are targeting a mid-November opening! Thank you for your patience and support throughout this process! My clients crushed their first week back to outdoor workouts If you’re taking your workouts outside too (or into your garage), here are some tips to combat the heat: ... Wear light clothing & sunscreen if in the sun! HYDRATE! Drink at least 70-100 oz a day. Freeze a wet washcloth prior to your workout. Wear it around your neck to help keep you cool! Workout in the mornings, if possible, as it’s the coolest part of the day. Know your limits! Start off easy until you know how your body takes the heat. Push yourself, but know when to back off if needed. See more

Well, the gyms have been shut down again (along w several other businesses). I have no words anymore...or at least non I’d like to share in light of maintaining a non-controversial stance on this platform. When I post a client transformation, I never want to take the credit for the work that they put in It’s like the old saying, You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink. ... All smiles because @gb3sportsclub reopens THIS FRIDAY! Anyone else excited?!?! For those asking...here are most of the basic guidelines that will be implemented during phase 1 of their reopening: A brief verbal screening at check-in.... Members must remain 6 ft from each other. Bring your own mats & towels. Wipe down equipment before & after use. Only floor equipment, restrooms, & sinks can be used. NOTE: No classes, daycare, pool, sauna, or steam room in phase 1 of reopening. To my in-person clients: I have not yet decided what day we will transition back to the gym. Now vs. 5 years ago when I first started lifting I used to really struggle to keep weight on (& before anyone makes a sarcastic comment...this can be just as big of an issue/ frustration as trying to take weight off). It came down to this simple problem:... I was burning more calories than I was consuming. If you can’t GAIN weight, you’re not consuming enough calories. If you can’t LOSE weight, you’re consuming too many calories (&/ or not burning enough). It’s that simple. ***Not never, but....
