Huge thanks to the team at @douglasonsanchez for choosing Friends of Alemany Farm as a recipient of donations from their Community Coffee Mornings program. Y’all they dropped this gift on us out of the blue at a time when their shop is *CLOSED.* Their commitment to supporting the SF foodshed is outstanding, and we want to raise them up. Friends, let’s support them in return: check out their pop up at @omnivorebooks 3885 Cesar Chavez in SF. Hats off and many thanks, Douglas... Available starts: greens: cabbage, kale, chard, lettuce, choi, mustard, brussels sprouts, spinach, broccoli (in October), herbs, native lupin, alstroemeria, lavender, aloe vera, and more Hello fellow gardeners! In celebration of Friends of Alemany Farm’s 15-year anniversary, and to make up for the sizable chunk of our operating budget that was lost to COVID-19, we are hosting a plant sale! It’s been a long time since anyone outside FoAF staff has been allowed on site - and... it’s been painful to turn away so many volunteers this summer. So we are particularly thrilled to welcome you back to the farm for the sale this weekend and next. We will have a socially distant plant start stand at Alemany Farm on the following days (while supplies last): Sunday Sept 27th, 10:30AM - 1PM Saturday Oct 3rd, 2PM - 4:30 PM Sunday Oct 4th, 10:30AM - 12:30PM We encourage those of you who are able to give more generously to do so - and suggest a $5 donation per plant as a starting point. All funds will go to supporting Friends of Alemany Farm operations. Cash only, exact change appreciated! Please follow social distancing guidelines (enforced at the stand and elsewhere). Location Details: 700 Alemany Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94110

The Sprouting Leaders Youth Cohort at @urbansprouts is hosting a plant sale today!! Stop by, stock your garden, and support a local green nonprofit . If you weren’t familiar with them, #UrbanSprouts is a sister organization of #AlemanyFarm: they’re a San Francisco-based NGO that works in communities who have historically been denied access to resources for success & wellness. Through their network of five gardens & community partners, each year Urban Sprouts reaches over 2,000 people with three vital programs: cooking & nutrition classes, garden-based education, & job readiness. We love you, #UrbanSprouts, so grateful for your good work in this world. Now everyone go buy more plants and grow them and eat fresh local produce!! Support that immune system & support your friendly neighborhood heroes @urbansprouts

Happy Juneteenth everyone! Power and life and freedom to black people everywhere. From Alemany grape guru & dear friend @thetwoeightyproject: Today I had the opportunity to spend some much needed time with the land. I made the conscious decision to celebrate with the farm rather than run from it because this was a choice my ancestors didn't have. Working along great friends I was able to express my feelings of being a black farmer on this day and how proud it makes me. We sp...oke about many ways we can fight to end oppression and create safe spaces for people of color to have nourishment. I also shared my quest and love for land while giving some history on the farmland my family has lost through the years in Louisiana. Today was a great day and we have big plans for next year! These pictures are my family members from Louisiana, these are the amazing souls that fought for me and allowed me to be a farmer today. @ Alemany Farm See more
