What we are watching right now is heartbreaking. It is infuriating. It is devastating. I want to remind you that we can feel multiple emotions at once, and we can choose more than one response to our emotions. We can feel fear and pray for peace at the same time. We can feel compassion and anger at the same time. We can turn to prayer and/or mindfulness, then pace the floor and scream at the television. We can and must embrace everything we are feeling. We must remember this ...is what happens when people do not try to work through their differences. This is what happens when people choose not to see an escalating problem. This is what happens when extremists care far too much and folks in the middle don't care at all. Now is the time to care. Now is the time to both pray and rise up. Now is the time to both pray and speak. Tonight I will host a venting and prayer session at 6pm PST. Come to vent, stay to pray.
