If the makeup overpowers the person you may want to work on the ever so important skill of restraint. Let the person come into the room first. After a while, the makeup will make itself known. Makeup should reflect the persons beauty, not create it. This is what we emphasize in our Beauty Makeup classes. ... We as makeup artists are primarily there to enhance one's beauty, that's not to say there isn't a place for a bold and dramatic look, but if you aim to do clean beauty shoots, commercial work, or work with natural clientele you have to master the fine balance of enhancing and not overpowering. It is okay to take your time when it comes to liner and do baby strokes. You'd don't have to try to be a hero and get it all in one swipe. Eyeliner can sense your fear! (So can red lips lol) So take a breath and first concentrate on just connecting small strokes across your lash line to start. Then once you've made it all the way across you can go back in and smooth out the top and perfect things.
