Given that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine are very similar, it’s not surprising to hear of allergic reactions to the Moderna one now. It is important to note the patient made a full recovery and was promptly treated with an Epipen. These reactions are very rare but it’s important to remain vigilant. The cause is a still being investigated, a tryptase level can be drawn at the time a of reaction to confirm anaphylaxis, but it is not always done with all that is going on at the time. Our patient wasn’t sure if he was allergic to all marijuana strains or just some of them. He brought in 3 Sativa strains and 1 Indica. He was found allergic to Sativa and not Indica.
