On Friday, Station 9 in City of San Leandro received a few special visitors. A local Girl Scout Troop made thank you cards and brought cookies for the Firefighters for the essential work they do and for being loving community members. What made this visit extra special, was one of the Firefighters happened to be working on shift three years ago and responded to a medical call for a family member of one of the Girl Scouts. The visit meant so much to the crew and family alike. #ALCOFIRE

In the spirit of National Women's History Month, ACFD would like to highlight Dispatch Manager Rosa Ramos. Ms. Ramos manages the #ACRECC (Alameda County Regional Emergency Communications Center) who provides and coordinates fire and EMS dispatching for seven partnering agencies. She is very proud of her dispatch team who have taught her the meaning of resiliency, and inspire her every day with their determination to do the right thing. Her favorite quote is, "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you," RBG. #ALCOFIRE

The U.S. Fire Administration recently released this immersive 360-degree kitchen fire-safety video which allows viewers to choose where to look instead of just sitting back and watching. Look around the kitchen to find the fire hazards. Once you've found them, pan around to see how you can easily fix them and make your kitchen fire safe. #ALCOFIRE https://youtu.be/YytK3zBQ0DU

High winds are starting to pick-up and thousands are without power due to PSPS. With the low humidity, a small spark could grow into a major fire exasperated by the high winds. Watch for downed power lines and trees. Be safe, fire season is the most dangerous this time of year. Your ACFD stations are fully staffed, plus four additional type 3 engines and dozer 17 are on pre-position deployment within Alameda County. #PSPS #ALCOFIRE #ACAlert
