Is it just me, or does our society seem to be moving at 100 mph thanks to technology? While that may be nice when it comes to one day amazon shipping, it just doesn’t apply to ALL aspects of life. For example, in hair coloring sometimes your desired end result can be so far away from what you currently have going on that it just has to take multiple sessions. OR maybe you’re hair is naturally fragile or fine, and the best route is what we call low and slow...this often take...s a little longer to achieve the end result as well. But you know what? In both cases you end up with happier, healthier hair that was well worth the wait! Let’s keep that hair on your head and not down the sink drain! So, I want to know what team you are on! Drop the emoji if you are on team keep my hair attached to my head OR drop the emoji if you’re on team just get me here, and get me there quick . Let’s see who wins! See more

Let’s play a game! If you could choose one way to turn your hair in to the hair of your dreams, what would it be? A. I’d want it thicker and fuller, I dream of luxurious Victoria secret model hair! B. I’d want it to be longer, give me all the Repunzell vibes! C. I’d want it to be a bright beautiful color without all the maintenance, make me a lifestyle friendly mermaid! ... D. I’d want it as light as possible without causing damage...oh and I don’t want to deal with roots. We all have an image of the hair we would love to have in our brains (or in our Pinterest board), and I’m here to tell you...almost anything is possible. Keep an eye on my feed over the next week or so, I’ll dive in to some of the big dreams listed above and give you some options and solutions for how to achieve the look! So, which one did you pick? Are you ready to try something new? There’s a good chance you already use dry shampoo at home, but have you actually considered how you apply it to your hair? I get it. It’s easily something that would never cross your mind...I mean it’s just dry shampoo, right? But when applied correctly you can add volume, texture, and get rid of all that extra oil WITHOUT the dreaded white hazy powder residue! So, check out this short video and let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!

Am I right to guess we’ve all spent more time indoors this year than we ever imagined we would? It’s allowed (forced?) me to do a bit of self-reflection and I’ve realized that I am highly uncomfortable with having down time! Anyone else? But it’s helped me become a better businessperson because allowing myself to just chill every once in a while really helps open my creative brain. Some of my best thinking and ideas come from: having some blank space where I’m not int...entionally trying to work. The emptiness of the space just calls to be filled with weird, creative, outlandish ideas! OR talking with my friends and family about random things. Usually something someone says will trigger a fun idea and down the ideation rabbit hole we go!! Creativity is the cornerstone of being a haircolorist and of course being a salon owner, so getting in to the habit of embracing some downtime has been incredibly priceless! What has being quarantined for months revealed for you? See more

Did you know that you have homework before each of your hair color appointments that will help me, your stylist, with your services? I’m here to spill the goods and give you the tools to make you feel fabulous and confident before any color appointment! One week prior to your appointment: Apply an at-home conditioning mask and let it sit for at least 30 minutes! This will help pre-moisturize your hair to prevent too much dryness from coloring. 72-24 hours befor...e your appointment: Shampoo and condition your hair with a noncolor-enhancing product ( that's right...put down that purple shampoo). This allows me to see the color for what it truly is...not just the overtone of your shampoo (more tips on caring for blonde hair coming soon). Morning of your appointment: rejoice because you are going to get your hair done today! Which of these things do you already do at home?? Don't be shy, let all of us friends here in FB-land celebrate you! See more

Hands down the most challenging/fun part of my job is helping first time HairColor wearers find their ideal color. The best part about hair color is that it can be adjusted, changed, and reimagined pretty regularly which means there’s so so so many options and you never have to stick with the same thing! For fist timers who want that ultra low maintenance lifestyle friendly color that they just don’t have to worry about at all, I usually opt for a no bleach option)! That gives my guests time to adjust to having color and gives then plenty of time to decide if they want to jump in to something a little more dramatic the next time! So tell me, what’s your favorite haircolor that you’ve ever done? OR if you’ve never colored your hair before, what would your dream hair look like?

Oh boy, that oh so sweet feeling of having your hair freshly done. What is even sweeter is knowing that your hair is what I call lifestyle friendly. What that means is that I will never give you a hair color that will make your life harder, my goal is to always give you a color that lets you enjoy your life with minimal worry! My guests always tell me that this is a priceless benefit! The truth is, there’s nothing like having a genuine conversation about what you need and want for your hair and actually being listened to. A how-to guide on getting the perfect wave. I’ve learned a thing or two since becoming a stylist in 2011, and I want to share some of that wisdom with you! Here are a few of my tried-and-true techniques:... prep your hair with a product that has some hold. My favorite is Wella shape me 48 hr because it’s light weight and has so many uses. This will help hold the soft waves without adding too much hairspray at the end. wrap your hair away from your face and tilt the iron back and down. This helps prevent that Shirley temple vibe! use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to soften up your waves! You can flip your head upside down and do this for extra volume! don’t forget your texture spray! Flip your head upside down and give your hair a good misting of texture spray about half an arms length away from your head. This prevents build up and adds more voluminous hold. I hope this helps, friend! Comment below if you’d like to see more of these tips in the future!

I’m over here trying to do our part to keep COVID numbers down and our doors OPEN! Want to know how you can be sure I mean business? I got custom masks made just for The Color Collective just in case you forget yours at home ( or you happen to have a mask collection like me), I stocked up an all the sanitation and disinfection supplies we could ever need, I keep my team socially distanced behind the chair, we limit our numbers so there’s no more than 7 of us working at a time, I do a health screening prior to every appointment, I do temperature checks, and of course lots of hand sani! See? I mean business! What's something you value when it comes to customer service in the time of COVID?

How do you take care of YOU? Whether it’s treat yo’self or self-care Sunday we all have modern culture to thank for a timely return to kindness toward ourselves. I personally love a good charcuterie board with a nice glass of rose or an aperol spritz. However I 100% know that if I didn’t work in the same place I had my hair done, getting my hair colored would be step 1 to my self care Monday! What’s your self-care routine?

When I first became a colorist, I had no idea how much I’d love this career. From the minute I saw the end result of the first haircolor I ever did in high school (under my ex hairdresser mother’s observation), I knew this was the right path for me. What I didn’t expect was the incredible, strong, badass women that would become my salon guests, my team, and my community. Without all of you (and of course the insane amount of fun I have creating and formulating your perfect color) this career would just be another job...just another way to pass time...just another 9-5 (or in my case, 10-6). With that being said, I love to be helpful and answer as many questions as I can! So, if you have any questions or are interested in booking an appointment, just shoot me a DM and I’ll be happy to help!

Can I share a secret with you? I am literally the WORST at getting my photo taken, I just can’t seem to take myself seriously. It might seem silly, but its been a real struggle over the last few years in my business. But, it’s a necessity of my business and over the years I’ve found ways to have fun with it! There’s nothing better than getting the photos back from the photographer and laughing at myself until my stomach hurts ...at least my photographer has fun with me while sneaking shots between moments like these! So tell me I’m not the only one that can’t take herself seriously!
