Rosa Parks: The mother of the civil rights movement Adventist Health is celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth by highlighting the significant roles that African-Americans have played in shaping U.S. history. This week, we honor Rosa Parks for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955. Her courage led to a yearlong bus boycott that ended when the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a ruling declaring racially segregated buses unconstitutional. #MotherOfCivilRightsMovement #TogetherInspired https://loom.ly/At6MshM

o #HeartMonth is a great time to take up a few simple heart-healthy habits. Here are five to get you started! Take a walk: Staying active is one of the easiest ways to protect your heart. Eat heart-smart snacks: Try whole-grain toast or crackers, a fruit and veggie smoothie, or fat-free yogurt with fruit. Stress less: Talk out problems with a trusted friend or counselor to avoiding letting stress build up. Take a test: Talk to your doctor about how to check ...your cholesterol regularly Give thanks: Research has shown that practicing gratitude is good for your heart and overall health. What heart-healthy habits are part of your routine? Tell us in the comments below! #Togetherinspired #HeartHealth See more

Updated Photos! It's National Wear Red Day, when we wear the color red to raise awareness about the number one health problem that affects American women: heart disease. It’s also a day in which women are encouraged to find out their five most important health numbers: Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, BMI (Body Mass Index). By knowing these numbers women can find out their risks for developing heart disease and take measures to prevent it. We’re happy to join them in preventing and treating heart disease through excellent cardiology care provided by our Adventist Heart & Vascular Institute team. #GoRedAH #wearredday
