For those who may not know the connection between our foundation and Soter Point: Andrew Soter, Andrea's Father, and the Treasurer of the Andrea's Foundation board, established Soter Point with his friend, Sam Povar. It was Povar's mission to bring private-public art collaborations to Ventura in honor of Povar's late wife. ... The statute was a collaboration with Alec Benke, a Russian artist who fell in love with the statute, and sought to bring it's beauty to the world. The story of their collaboration is one rooted in love and loss, much like the stories we hear from our grant recipients every day. In 2011, Andrea's Foundation made the Soter Point Memorial Mermaid, established in Andrea's memory, the Foundation's official logo.
