Air Force ROTC Detachment 075 02.04.2021

LLAB 04’s focus was on a Leadership Panel with our special guest, Lt Col Kenyatta H. Ruffin. Before getting started, there were a few announcements from the Cadet Wing Opportunity team. After that, Lt Col Ruffin delivered his Leadership Panel which was engaging and highly motivational to all cadets! As a surprise, Det 075 Alumni, 2nd Lt Joshua Hoffman, was showcased during the panel to give us some advice. Afterwards, Lt Col Ruffin answered any questions that cadets had during the Q&A section. We then transitioned into our breakout rooms for training.

LLAB 03 composed of training, mentorship, and GMC/POC Forum. LLAB began with a few announcements that included new female grooming standards, upcoming deadlines, and the addition of two new flights. As a surprise announcement, C/1st Lt Thomas was chosen as CTA for Field Training! We then went to our own Zoom rooms for training. Towards the end of LLAB, we had cadet mentorship as well as GMC and POC Forum.

LLAB 02’s primary focus was training, but here are a few highlights of what happened: We started off with some announcements about PT and former MDG/CC, C/Capt Casamina, was given a shoutout for going beyond the Strava goal for this week. Another notable cadet that was put on the spotlight was C/Maj Lombardo and his achievement of getting selected for Phase 2! After that, we transitioned into our respective breakout rooms for training.

LLAB 09 was another eventful leadership lab! We had two guest speakers, Col Eberly and Col Jeffreys, with us today. They shared a bit about themselves and their experiences in the Air Force and gave cadets guidance. They also answered questions that cadets had. After that, announcements were made and Col Grimm announced that C/Scarberry got selected into the Air Force Academy’s National Character and Leadership Symposium event!!! We then broke out into our respected breakout rooms and went over training. #bestinthewest

Good evening Det 075, we hope you are all enjoying the weekend! Next on our weekly cadet highlights are these two outstanding cadets from our detachment: C/2nd Lt. Truong and C/4C Kawamoto! Nina Truong is an AS 400 currently studying at SDSU. Her current major is Electrical Engineering. She currently manages the detachment’s uniform inventory and real-time Tracking system for the Uniform Shop. Her desired AFSC is to be a Developmental Engineer - Flight Test (62EXF). Some inte...resting facts about C/Truong is that her favorite country she traveled to so far is Vietnam and her top three countries to visit next are Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan. Her favorite quote is Adventure is out there! from the movie Up; It’s her favorite because it embodies what life should be about and that you never know what the day will hold. C/Truong’s hobbies include photography, cooking, baking, going on adventures, and hanging out with friends. The type of music that C/Truong likes to listen to is EDM, pop, indie, latin, jazz, and Classical. She relaxes by sleeping and listening to music. Nikka Kawamoto is an AS 100 studying at SDSU, where she is majoring in Graphic Design. Her Desired AFSC is either Public Affairs or Medical Field. Fun facts about C/Kawamoto are that she did JROTC for four years and became Company Commander for JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge. Some hobbies that C/Kawamoto has are playing video games, volleyball, hockey, and going to the gym. The type of music that C/Kawamoto likes to listen to are boy bands, Indie and retro music. She likes to relax by watching movies, drawing and listening to music along with sleeping.

For today’s LLAB IMT went over marching and GLP introductions, and FTP went over scenario knowledge needed for scenarios at Field Training. Meanwhile, FTPR and POC did an exercise on 2nd and 3rd order effects. Today’s LLAB was very effective in teaching cadets valuable knowledge and lessons needed for their future in the Air Force! #bestinthewest

Happy Sunday Det 075, you know what today is another cadet highlight! Today’s we will be featuring C/Capt. Wilson and C/3C Kye! Madison Wilson is currently an AS 300 studying at SDSU, majoring in International Security and Conflict Resolution. The Det job he has right now is the Academic Flight Commander Commander. His desired AFSC is Intelligence Officer (14NX). Some interesting facts about C/Wilson is that he used to live in Korea and Belgium, in which he spoke French and... Flemish Fluently. His hobbies include exploring the city and trying new food places, and he also enjoys photography, going to different museums, and hiking. The type of music that C/Wilson listens to is either rap or R&B. Some ways that he relaxes is going out driving or playing 2K. Johanna Kye, her close friends call her Jo, is an AS 200 studying at the University of California, San Diego, She is majoring in Education Studies with a Transitional Korean Studies Minor. The Det job that she has right now is the Director of Staff Executive Officer, and her desired AFSC is a Mobility Pilot (11MX). Some facts about C/Kye is that she is a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo and is also a barista at Tastea in Mira Mesa. Her hobbies are watching Kdrama/Netflix, boba, getting good food, and camping/hiking. She likes to listen to ballads (slow songs), R&B, Korean R&B, and indie. Some ways that she relaxes is looking at clouds, sunsets, and stars. She also likes to hangout with people!

LLAB 07 was another bittersweet LLAB. Today’s leadership lab focused on SMSgt Scaramouche’s farewell messages and Reveille and Retreat procedures. We got to hear each cadre member give SMSgt Scaramouche a farewell message and we also watched a video of past and present cadets expressing their gratitude for her. We then learned a lesson on Reveille and Retreat and broke out into our breakout rooms to go over FDE lessons, marching, online scenarios, and caught up on academics.Don’t forget to work out as much as you can, let’s prove to each other why we are the #bestinthewest !!

Good afternoon Det 075, Happy first Sunday of October! ! Today’s cadet highlights will be featuring two more outstanding cadets from our detachment; C/Col Nuevo and C/4C Dittrich! Leslyn Kiara Nuevo, who goes by Kiara, is an AS 400 attending SDSU where she is studying Criminal Justice. She currently holds the position of being Mike Flight’s Deputy Commander. Her desired AFSC is 14NX Intelligence Officer. A fun fact about C/Nuevo is that she became a certified debate judge aft...er placing first in a championship tournament when she was only 14! She enjoys cooking, baking, playing tennis, video games, hanging out with friends and family. She likes to listen to Alternative rock, indie, and anything 88rising makes. C/ Nuevo relaxes by taking naps and listening to music. Benjamin D. Dittrich, who also goes by Ben, is an AS100 attending UCSD where he is studying Computer Engineering. Some fun facts about C/Dittrich are that he has been skiing since he was 3 years old and he really enjoys drinking kombucha! Some of his hobbies include PC gaming, watching TV/Anime/Youtube, occasionally reading and skiing when he can. He has a wide selection of favorite music genres, but he mainly likes to listen to electronic music, alternative, instrumental metal, progressive rock, rock, hip-hop, house and pop. C/Dittrich likes to relax by taking 20-30 min cat naps and browsing through Reddit to kill time.
