Thank you again for inviting me back to Deer Canyon. Here are the wonderful results of the complementary lessons by 1st and 2nd grade student. Well done!
Expressive dancing witch’s feet in lovely fall colors. I can hear as they are tapping to the rhythm. Artwork by two first graders.
Another beautiful dandelion watercolor piece by a 3rd grade student. Look at closely the tiny hidden creatures inside of the flowers and flying in the air.
We were drawing a map of an imaginary land. I demonstrated how to draw different versions of an enchanted land, and the students came up with their own. I love these refreshing and inspiring ideas. A 3rd and a 1st grader’s artwork.
As I am still teaching over Zoom, I rely on busy parents sending me pictures after class. I received new submissions from a 5 year old and a 6 year old students. I love these adorable pandas with their own personalities and the beautiful birch trees.
It was great fun being part of the Deer Canyon Community again and teach 81 pupils last Friday! What a turnout! Families enjoyed the Art Night so much, that they already asked an encore at the end of the event.
I’m thrilled to be back to Deer Canyon to teach a virtual art lesson! If you belong to Deer Canyon, don’t hesitate to sign up- it’s going to be fun!
Beautiful translucent dandelion watercolor paintings by 1st and 3rd grade siblings. The blue in the middle is my sample. We used pan watercolor with salt for texture. It is not always easy for elementary age kids to understands how to use pan watercolor. I am really glad that my students did and created a wonderful lightweight background the way it was explained. Lesson idea comes from the amazing Britt Curley- thank you!!
First time after 8 months, I was allowed back to The Gateway Retirement Homes and look what we did!! I love these beautiful pieces that my senior students painted. Although cool colors were offered as well, all of them chose warm colors for the background. I blame the liquid watercolor for these amazing hues About the circumstances: We all were wearing masks, my students were sitting away from each other. I was walking around, trying to keep the distance while looking at their work, and guiding them. It’s not quite possible to keep 6 feet. Luckily, everyone has been healthy at this residential facility and it’s also required for everyone to wear mask.
Mixed media brown and white pelicans are finished - beautifully done by two 3rd graders and a 1st grader! (Chalk pastel pelicans and acrylic backgrounds)
Zoom lesson are in session, wonderful lessons are prepared! Please message me, if you’d like to sign up.
Students had a lot of fun with this project as well! It has many steps in order to accomplish this layered look. These two girls definitely nailed it! We used all sorts of acrylic paints, metallic and regular, sponges for texture, color pencils for the fireflies. A cherry on top was the glow-in-the dark paint! The girls also uploaded the picture and used as a Zoom screen and acted as if they belong to the magical world of fireflies. It was another inspiration from Mary Making.
Another version of hot air balloons by rising 1st and 3rd grade students this summer.
