Gmail, yahoo mail and Hotmail hacked! Several hundred million email accounts have been compromised! If you have a gmail, yahoo, or hotmail account - login right now and change your password!! If you use that same password on any other site, login and change that one, too! Another great thing to do is to set up 2 factor authentication. This adds a second layer of protection. Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft make it easy to add this. What this does is make it so t...hat anyone trying to change your password will need the special code that they will send to your phone via text message. WIthout the code - they cant make any changes. Make these changes right now, while you are thinking of it and hopefully BEFORE something happens! When creating a new password, try to use a combination of capitals & lower case letters, numbers and symbols. Makes it harder for someone to guess!

Ransomware Warning: You have probably heard on the news about the hospital in Los Angeles that had all their patient records held for ransom. They ended up paying the equivalent of $17000 to regain access to their own files. How can you protect yourself? First thing: run a backup, and schedule it to backup OFTEN! Then .. Don't open email attachments! If you must open them, make sure its an email you were expecting, from someone you know, and that the body of the email matches... what that person would normally say. Here is example (real email that I received this morning). I didn't recognize the sender name, and we don't name our contracts in that format. I knew it was fake. Another tip off - if you go to open the attachment it will ask you if you want to run macros - NO!!! Dont ever run macros from an attachment. That's how the malware gets installed!
