For this project, an incredible amount of time was invested in the storytelling behind the illustrated screens and how users would travel through each of the main venue pages. The correct balance of elements on screen and how the elements behave on-scroll was one of the two greatest challenges we faced. The second challenge, and perhaps an even greater one, was how to give users a good, clear navigation experience on a website where the client wanted to prioritize imaginatio...n and inspiration above all. We wanted to simplify the site structure as much as possible, with the site being so graphically intense and visually nonconventional. Our main site nav uses the idea of a navigation chart and is represented by a dangling star as a nav icon. Simple in execution, but again focused on the illustrations. The Neverlands is a home to two of Los Angeles’ most stunning nightlife venues: The Edison and Clifton’s Republic. The client wanted a website that speaks extraordinary through a world of fantasy, and promotes the venues, events, and products. While there is a variety of people coming to Clifton’s and Edison in person and online, they are all seeking the extraordinaryand expect nothing less. We implemented geolocation for four of the brands, so that users are automatically directed to the nearest restaurant location page, reducing the number of clicks users have to make to get to where they want to go. We integrated restaurant events from the Lawry’s A La Carte newsletter automatically in a new Happenings section, so that users would not need to redirect away from the site to see what was happening at their favorite location. Overall, bounce rate has been reduce...d by nearly 25% and page views have increased 129%. Site engagement has also increased by about 50%, with more people visiting the site for longer sessions. Beginning with in-person meetings, our team guided Lawry’s through a discovery and strategy process to identify key goals and priorities. We opted for an adaptive and minimally elegant design that left room for the photography to set the tone, but that would also make it easy for the users to navigate and reach high value business pages. The Pearlman Collection is a collection of Impressionist and Post-impressionist art in a family foundation primarily housed at the Princeton University Art Museum, with individual artwork regularly loaned out for display in galleries and museums around the world.
