A "modern classic," nearing its hundredth birthday! One of AC Martin’s first completed high-rise office buildings, the Los Angeles City Hall was the city’s tallest building for more than thirty years. We have since provided a renovation of the building, including seismic strengthening, life safety and accessibility code upgrades, and preservation of historically significant building elements. Once completed, the renovation was nearly invisible, allowing the historic building to retain its identity and splendor. #acmartin #ladesign #preservation #lacityhall #dtla

The Long Beach City College Parking Structure P2 is nearing completion! A significant piece of the College's Integrated Energy Master Plan, the parking structure includes electric vehicle charging stations, a modular wetlands system, and photovoltaic solar panels on the top floor. This is the first parking structure at the Pacific Coast Campus and will serve as a major gateway building for the college along PCH! Leaving nothing to waste! These walnut wood planks were cut from logs salvaged from the Paradise Fire and will be used in the construction of the California Department of General Services New Natural Resources Headquarters’ 196-foot long lobby wall. Tule Peak Timber, a close trade partner in construction of this project, is a small business enterprise that purposefully limits itself to the use of wood from local wind falls, fire cleanup, beetle kill and urban cleanup. Utilizi...ng salvaged wood like this diverts material from landfills, while also integrating local California specimens into the final design. Just another sustainability strategy we’re using to demonstrate environmental stewardship on this great project!
