Ashland and Cherryland Parking Study Online Survey Tell us what you think about parking and transportation in Ashland and Cherryland: Visit www.AshlandCherrylandParking.com to take an online survey (available in English and Spanish). Alameda County Community Development Agency (ACCDA) is developing a parking study for the Ashland and Cherryland business district. The business district extends along East 14th Street and Mission and Lewelling Boulevards.... The study will address immediate parking concerns and determine future parking needs as the Ashland and Cherryland areas develop and grow over the next several decades. Goals of the study include: - Support businesses and residents by making parking more readily available and convenient - Stimulate economic growth by ensuring that there is enough customer parking for local businesses - Create a plan that strikes a balance between parking needs and complements other modes in the corridor, i.e., walking, biking, bike and scooter rentals, ride share services (Lyft/Uber) We want to hear from you! Tell us what you think about parking and transportation in Ashland and Cherryland to help inform the study’s recommendations by visiting www.AshlandCherrylandParking.com and taking the online survey (available in English and Spanish).

COVID-19 Community Help Request - Call For Volunteers to Make Face Masks for Healthcare Workers Message from Eden Area Interfaith Council The Eden Area Interfaith Council is asking for volunteers to assist them in sewing face masks for our local hospital staff. As you know there is a severe shortage of N95 face masks. While the cotton mask is not the best protection, the CDC says wearing one is better than going without any protection. Their website offers directions on how ...to easily sew a mask and has volunteers to pick them up from the sewer's doorstep. Artist John Wehrle painted the San Lorenzo Community Identifier on both sides of the I-880 Highway overpass above Hesperian Blvd. John Wehrle’s design includes the words San Lorenzo and images of the San Lorenzo Creek including depictions of water, Sycamore tree leaves, and other natural elements such as a dragonfly, turtle, duck, and butterfly. Community involvement and engagement are at the core of the Community Identifier Projects. Community members were involved in the ...project since its inception by developing the project concept, participating in community surveys, attending meetings, providing comments about the artists' proposal designs, and serving on the artist selection committees. With the leadership of Supervisor Nate Miley, the overall project first began with the Castro Valley site and then soon after the Ashland/Cherryland site was added. Through the support and leadership of Supervisor Wilma Chan, San Lorenzo became the third site. The Arts Commission managed a two-year-long, multi-phase process which led to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approval of the three Community Identifier designs in January 2018. During 2018, the Arts Commission completed the agreements with Caltrans and then scheduled the painting for the summer of 2019. The first two projects were completed in late July. The San Lorenzo Community Identifier was completed in early October.
