ACE Quality Control

This project was a great opportunity for ACE Quality Control and every time we travel over the bridge it brings back great memories. The team really pulled together to deliver the quality control Caltrans District 2 and Tutor Saliba expected.

We at ACE love dirt! Here's what earthwork compaction testing looks like at multiple project sites. Fun Fact: If you see a technician in the picture, look for a small orange/yellow box in the dirt with a rod sticking out. Those are nuclear gauges, and they give readings on the moisture and density of the soil. Pretty cool! #specialinspection #materialstesting #geotechnicalengineering

In case you've ever wondered what "shotcrete" is, here's a great explanation. It's concrete sprayed from a hose at high velocity onto rebar, usually used for repairs of older buildings, or new construction that has curved edges, such as a pool. In this case, ACE is inspecting the alteration of an existing historic building that was built in 1923 called the Tapscott Building in Oakland! It's getting a major renovation after being vacant for many years, and will tie into a 39 story mixed use tower. Talk about an upgrade! #specialinspection #materialstesting #geotechnicalengineering

ACE celebrates Veterans by making it a holiday for the staff! We hope they take a moment to appreciate the sacrifices individuals have made on our behalf.
