The scoop on our upcoming move. Retrofitting is self-defense! "I'm not excited about moving across town, but we're on the ground floor of a huge building and I want to make sure that during an earthquake, a large building doesn't come down on us." -- Grandmaster Bill Dewart

A nice email from a former student.... "It has truly just dawned on me, how incredible my experience was at your academy. First off, introductions. My name is Jim K. and I was a student of the academy around 2009. I was a chef working in San Francisco, and still am in the great city of Portland, Oregon. I currently am running a pop up dining company doing avant garde food, while maintaining a "day job" as a Chef of a local company. I was living about a block up the street fr...om the school on Oak and decided one day to step in and check it out. Now I have never had much interest in martial arts but was always an athlete in school and recreationally. I signed up for the trial month and immediately got my butt handed to me. Nothing asked of me was impossible, just difficult. After doing the first few classes, I fell into the routine. I felt stronger, and more flexible, though I hadn't particularly gained any mass. I was just learning how to use what i had, but better. Bill engrained a stretching routine and dynamic workout ideas that I still use more than twice a week. I was unable to attend the academy, obviously, after moving 750 miles away, but I still am a changed man due to my experiences with both Bill and the incredible people that surrounded me within the academy walls. I still talk about Bill in everyday conversation. I insist the guy is invincible. He's played pro football, survived cancer, and when asked about Chuck Norris, replies, "Meh. He lacks respect." He was one of the most inspirational male figures in my life and I still use the gifts that he gave me to this day. I hope this email finds you Bill. If you or any of the students are in Portland, stop on by and let me know you are coming. Then I can show you some of those ninja skills in the kitchen. Be well and fight hard."
