Our small team has taken almost 200 COVID tests since the County’s shelter in place order began. It finally happened that we got a positive case. We’ve been preparing, planning, and thinking of ways to keep everyone safe. We’ve done everything in our control and will continue to do so. Our team member is doing well and is asymptomatic. We received the test result today and immediately reported it to the County and followed all COVID protocols. We are committed to the safety a...nd well being of our team and Academic friends and are taking all precautions to clean and sanitize our cafe. We have always practiced caution to do more than what is required. We are voluntarily closing for a few days to rest, reset, and plan for the future. Have a happy holiday and we’ll be back Monday, December 28th. Some additional details for transparency: - Our shift schedules are designed to minimize overlap between team members. - Everyone at the cafe has taken additional tests this week for the holidays and so far all the results have been negative. - Between the team member’s last negative test and positive test, they had only worked on 12/19 and 12/20. - Everyone who shared a shift with that person has not worked since 12/20. - Everyone who has worked at the cafe after 12/20 had not worked with the person who tested positive.
