According to Union Springs Herald, "in 1935, the New York Times reported an internal red flag list of Scout leaders expelled for moral perversion. Their whole strategy in bankruptcy is to try to put all the wealth into the names of councils, then argue that’s off-limits to the survivors, said Tim Kosnoff, lead attorney with Abused in Scouting, in a comment about the BSA filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Earlier this year, the bankruptcy court set a Nov. 16 deadline for Scouting abuse survivors to file claims against the BSA for child abuse.
There are more claims in this bankruptcy than in all of the Catholic Church bankruptcies combined, Kosnoff said to the Los Angeles Times, commenting on the thousands of lawsuits being filed against the Boy Scouts of America over sexual abuse claims.
With the passing of a new California law that opens new opportunities for sexual abuse victims to pursue justice, survivors of abuse in the Boy Scouts encourage others to come forward, share their stories, and hold the BSA accountable for their actions against children.
We're proud to represent clients like Tim, who are allowed some peace and closure by holding the BSA accountable for their horrific actions towards kids in the Scouts. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Tim---it's an honor to represent you.
The advocacy group Child USA analyzed a set of anonymous data provided by AIS and concluded that "Scouts provided an unsafe environment for children."
