Feb 15 2017 I found out that my neck was severely injured due to some sort of physical trauma. I was told that I needed to fuse my C4-C5, C5-C6 AND possibly C6-C7 vertebrae in my neck.. I was given the same speech every other doctor had told me before. There was a great chance of paralyzing myself if I continued training Jiu Jitsu or even a simple car crash could leave me broken forever. I knew that my body was no longer the same. I lost mobility and functionality throughout ...my body., I lost function in my right leg and lost my ability to run long distances, my extremities were lacking the electrical signals needed to perform simple tasks of dexterity like gripping objects. To say the least I fell into a major depression. I spent ten years of my life pursuing a JIu Jitsu journey and now here I was wondering if I had wasted a decade of my life and would no longer be able to train. I lost touch with myself and began to eat everything and no longer cared for my health. I chose to live in a negative environment and I gave up on my path towards my mastery of my art form. This lack of motivation went on for roughly six months. February had passed March, April, May, June, and July. Then August came and I was turning thirty three years old. I came to this revelation that I was too young to give up on my dream of becoming a black belt and helping others achieve their fitness goals in the process. I told myself to release the past and not listen to anything my Neurosurgeons had told me. I was no longer going to allow another human being to tell me what my circumstance was, and I was no longer going to allow my reality to be dictated by speculation of another individual. I chose to turn negativity, into positivity and I began to train Jiu JItsu again, against the recommendations of my doctors. I began to focus on all the functions I was no longer capable of performing. I began to lift weights and strength train again. I worked on grip strength, and I began to run again. I fell many times, physically and mentally speaking during this process which I am currently still pursuing. However I continued to train daily and quickly I got rid of the shadows of the past, knowing full and well that I was still broken. August passed, then September, and now here in October I feel like a new man. I am closer to becoming whole, but nowhere near the idea I have in my head of who I want to become. Everyday is a learning experience and a chance to better myself so that I can continue to strive for a completely functional body, a precisely calculated mind and a highly illuminated soul. Thank you for taking time out to read this and I HOPE this will help others to not give up on themselves even when others have seem to. See more

Stop worrying, Life gives you many difficulties and it is solely up to you to either pass the test of fail it. Worrying only exacerbates the situation. Everyday you sit here and breath oxygen is an OPPORTUNITY and not a situation to worry about.
