Lameness has traditionally been recognized only when the horse is head bobbing or close. However, during recent studies, it is estimated that 47% of horses in r...idden and competitive work are experiencing pain due to subtle lameness. How sure are you that your horse is not lame? We invite you to watch this video and see how you feel afterwards about labelling training issues that might, in fact, be lameness issues. See more
Lunge line lessons are the gold standard for becoming an independent rider! Looks like I’ve been taking it easy on everyone. Some great ideas here (insert maniacal laughter)! https://eventingnation.com/best-of-jn-confessions-of-a-hu/
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Indy and I met with a friend for a trail ride up at Lake Comanche last Saturday. He was pretty good. It’s not that big of a deal that we went per se, but to put things in perspective, the last time I’d ridden him was in October. I pulled him out of the pasture and off we went to the Lake. No lunging or warm up. He got bothered by a couple of things, but for the most part, went along nicely. He’s still a turd about loading sometimes, but it only took a couple of minutes to work him and then load. All in all, I was really pleased by his way of going. #2020 #indypotato
Center lights up and running!
What a difference! Bella’s coronet band back in July vs. now. Once again, I’m so grateful for my farrier and vet. #2020 #AbarTranch #bellarita #spicyredmare
Top pic is Forrest, June 2019. Bottom pic, October 2020. When I get the time, I will have to update you all on the past year of Forrest’s health. But, I wanted to have a record of his journey so I’m going to post this picture for now. ... I’m so grateful for his wonderful vet, my farrier, and my saddle fitter who have helped us keep Forrest feeling good.
Words of Wisdom: But this horse was advertised as beginner safe! I just love this custom wreath! This was a house warming gift given to me by Cathie Reich. She helped Emmy with her wreath and listened in very closely while I was peeking in her supply room, telling Emmy the colors that drew my eye. She surprised me with this a few weeks back as the house neared completion, knowing full well it would end up in the barn so we could all enjoy it. It’s really charmed up this little nook in the barn. Thank you, Cathie! #2020 #AbarT
