Saturd...ay, June 8th at Hillcrest Center for the Arts 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360 10am -11am Starlight Singers Auditions (Boys and girls ages 8+!) 11am -12pm Starlight Teens Auditions (Males and females ages 14-19, who will be attending high school in 2019. The Starlight Singers and Starlight Teens are two of 5-Star Theatricals’ biggest Community Outreach programs, and perform alongside professional musical theatre performers at VIP and Community events, the 5-Star Naval Base Holiday Show, Senior Centers around the greater Conejo Valley, as well as many other incredible events! This rewarding performance opportunity for young talent brings songs and smiles to grateful audiences, where the highlight of the show is the meet and greet following each performance! Yesterday, Broadway’s Katherine Tokarz (Wicked, Rock of Ages, White Christmas, A Chorus Line) dropped by the 5-Star Academy of Performing Arts to give a Masterc...lass on the process of a professional Chorus Call! It was certainly Too Darn Hot!! One week ago, the 5-Star Academy of Performing Arts put on its first Showcase!!! It was many of these young performers’ FIRST ever live show, and we couldn't be prouder. WE MADE A CHANGE TO OUR CHORUS CALL WORKSHOP!! This is now a ONE DAY CLASS: A CHORUS CALL with Broadway's Katherine Tokarz... Saturday, April 13th 3-6:30 PM Join Broadway’s Katherine Tokarz, as she leads students in a mock audition workshop. TO SIGN UP E-Mail: [email protected] Using the classic musical, Kiss Me, Kate as a vehicle for this mock audition, this day will include Dance/Movement and Singing. -Come prepared to dance first; wear comfortable clothes and jazz shoes or character shoes. -Bring 16 bars of your best musical theater song. -Everyone will be given a scene to cold-read from Kiss Me, Kate. Location: 5-Star Rehearsal Space 1489 E Thousand Oaks Blvd Ste C Thousand Oaks, CA 91362 Cost: $45 per student Ages: 10 and up Katherine Tokarz is an actress/dancer/singer/educator currently living and working in Los Angeles. Broadway credits: Original Cast of ROCK OF AGES, (Constance), Original Cast of IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS (Rhoda), A CHORUS LINE (Kristine), and WICKED. She also sang a duet with Alan Menken at his songbook concert at Lincoln Center, and participated in the Workshops and Pre-Broadway version in LA of LEAP OF FAITH. TV Credits include: Alexa & Katie on Netflix, Shimmer & Shine, Grandfathered, Famous in Love, Don't Trust the B- (recurring), The Neighbors (recurring), The Tony Awards, A Christmas Story Live! on FOX and more. From dancing the Can-can at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, to being a part of original Broadway casts, to playing an alien named Mary Lou Rettonon TV, Katherine is proud to have had so many different experiences as a performer! Katherine has taught at universities and studios across the country including UCLA, Kansas State, Dean College, AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts and is currently a faculty member at PVPA. As a teacher she aims to create an atmosphere where students can take risks, have fun, and experience the joy of connecting with others through storytelling. And most recently, Katherine has taken on her biggest roles yet: wife to her audio engineer husband Matt, and Mom to a sweet baby girl, Joey Rae.
