Alternative Reading Center 26.10.2020

I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and is ready to get back to work. We hatched 15 of 20 chicks and students took them home before spring break. This week, ARC students will be completing their chick embryology and hatching lab notes, viewing hatched egg shells under the microscope, and dissecting unhatched eggs as we press on with our reading goals! Please post pictures of your growing chicks or bring in pictures to share. Thank you!

Chick Hatching Project - Open House! ARC students hatched their first egg this morning at 8:13. Congratulations Kenadie! They have 3 more on the way...so far....! I tried to upload a video. Perhaps it will show up soon. We are having open house tomorrow, Saturday, from 12 to 1 for viewing. Students may take their chicks home next week. Remember, those students without a chick, may dissect their egg, to determined the expired stage of development, and their embryo if it is big enough. Well done ARC students!

Classroom Project - Chick Embryology and Hatching! Our chicks are due to begin the process of hatching, which takes approximately 13 to 14 hours, anytime after 5 PM today! The eggs have been incubating for 3 weeks and the students have been surrogate mother hens! I can't wait to see what we get!

Greetings from the ARC! Happy New Year to All! I hope everyone had a blessed vacation and will have a prosperous new year as we continue with reading instruction. We are kicking off the new year with Hunter's achievement! Hunter has met another reading goal. His reward was conducting a science project making electricity out of mud. His project was successful demonstrated by the blinking red light! Way to go, Hunter!

CONGRATULATIONS, SAM! Sam made an A+ on his Mohawk project at school! He is also sharing it at the ARC. It is placed in a prominent place in our classroom. All of the students have made comments and asked questions about what they saw. Needless to say, even though ARC student sessions are one-on-one, they are learning from each other! Way-to-go, Sam! Thank you so much for sharing! Keep up the good work at school!
